PSIA News
As you know, this year we are hosting PSIA at St. Mary’s. We have been traveling to Seguin to compete for many years but St. James Catholic School has chosen to no longer host the tournament. As a new district, we have only four schools, including ourselves, competing. Now that all schools have entered their contestant’s names, we can see how many are entered and in which events.
With this knowledge we realize that there are some events in which only one of two students are entered. (this includes all schools) First and foremost competing in PSIA is a wonderful learning experience for our students and as a new district we know that we will grow each year. However, no one can qualify for the State tournament unless at least three students are entered in an event. If three students are entered one student may advance to state. If four students are entered, two students may advance to State.
Therefore, in consultation with the PSIA district advisors, we will open selected events for students to join with a deadline of March 2nd. We still have six weeks until the contest so there is time for coaching and learning. At the end of the week we will evaluate our numbers and possibly combine some grade levels to help advance students to State.
