A Message from our
Fighter Country Foundation
President & CEO

The last few months have been absolutely fantastic for FCF and the BBS.  It has been a while, but we have been able to create multiple opportunities for engagement and have been so glad to see some familiar faces.  From the Fiesta Bowl Parade, Dorm Dweller Holiday Party, Patriot All-America Opening Ceremonies, BBS Annual Meeting, FCF Annual Meeting and the Delta Class HHHS event, we have had more opportunities for engagement in the past two months that we have had in the previous 20 Months!!!

At the BBS Annual Meeting we had a Leadership Transition from Steve Hoover to John Pierson with Brian Cooper now being the Vice.  At the BBS and FCF Annual Meeting we acknowledge Steve Hoover for the time, passion and effort he put into his time as BBS Chair - Thanks Again HOOV!!!

If you missed our FCF Annual Meeting, I am bummed for you.  We were so fortunate to have Ambassador Barrett share candid remarks alongside Charley Freericks while we also highlighted the outcomes of 2020.  We also announced the nominations for FCF Volunteer of Year - Kirk McClure, Bruce Larson, Steve Hoover, Darrell Wilson and Brian Cooper...with Darrell Wilson being announced as the Winner.  Congrats Darrell, everything you brought to FCF over the years has been amazing.  We also look forward to the next term with Angela Creedon as the new FCF Chair and Bob Bamabauer returning as FCF Vice Chair.  I hope to see many of you March 10th at the Subaru Superstore of Surprise as we pack BlazerBoxes for our 944th Deployed.  Good Stuff!!!
~Ron

Thank you to everyone who attended our first Happy Hour Hit Squad of the year! Delta Class did an amazing job of hosting.

…and a GREAT time was had by all!!!

On Wednesday, February 16th, the Blue Blazers Delta Squadron was pleased to have the first Happy Hour Hit Squad (HHHS) of 2022 at the home of Steve and Susan Underwood.

Steve (Delta Squadron) and Susan we amazing hosts.  The hospitality shown to everyone was as if they had known us all forever.  And the venue…Oh My God!!!

We started out with a very nice charcuterie plate.  Steve’s culinary skills then treated us to smoked beef brisket sandwiches, made with horseradish and arugula in a pretzel bun.  He also delighted us with his smoked chicken wings. Mac n cheese was the side item.  Everything was absolutely delicious!

The 25 Blue Blazers in attendance were also treated to libations that warmed the soul on a slightly chilled evening, great one-on-one conversation, and plenty of laughter.  (Oh, and did I mention about the venue?!!)

During the evening, Ron shared some updates with us, most notably some information about the rationale to cancel the Luke Air Show (announced earlier that day).  He also said that all of the foursomes are sold for the Annual Golf Tournament.  He gave a couple more updates, and had some goodies to share.

Bruce Larson gave some more updates about the golf tournament.  He also reminded us of the importance of selling tee signs, and silent auction items.

Dan Ortega shared some financial insights.  John Pierson also shared some motivating comments with us.

Speaking of John, he truly demonstrated ‘servant leadership’ by rolling up his sleeves and helping ensure all logistics were taken care of prior to the event.  Thanks again for your help, John!

The Blue Blazers Delta Squadron would like to thank all those who attended and helped make this a wonderful evening!!  We hope that Steve and Susan will have us back one day (Oh, and did I mention about the venue?!!).
