Happy (almost) spring, Longhorns!

Take advantage of warmer weather by exploring some local outdoor spring attractions!  The Color Inside, a Skyspace by artist James Turrell, is open to all members of campus and the public at the William C. Powers, Jr. Student Activity Center. New reservations are posted daily at 8 a.m. Additionally, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center will hold Tuesday Twilights featuring live music, food trucks, artists, and wildflowers beginning March 22.

ACADEMICS

New Sustainability Course Directory Website

Student works on computer near a grassy garden.
The Sustainability Course Directory provides students, faculty, staff, and administrators with an annual list of all sustainability-related course offerings at UT-Austin. This data is also reported as part of UT-Austin's biennial submission to the international Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). The Sustainability Course Directory was developed by campus sustainability staff. The Office of Sustainability is continuing to revise this process in collaboration with the Center of Teaching and Learning to make it more robust and welcomes your feedback and participation. Contact the Office of Sustainability with questions and comments.

ENGAGEMENT

(Still) Life of Waller Creek

Dragonfly rests on a stem.
It's the best time of year to explore the ambience and biodiversity of Waller Creek!

With photography and artwork by neuroscience undergraduate Kathryn Gatliff and fellow student creators, (Still) Life on Waller Creek showcases the natural beauty and wildlife of our campus creek.

After perusing the artwork, head out on the Waller Creek self-guided walking tour. The tour is about 2 miles long in total and takes about an hour to complete - perfect for a sunny day. Don't forget to bring water!

OPERATIONS

Celebrating Procurement Month

A woman of color gazing into the distance.
March is Procurement Month!  Help support Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs) by having your CSU submit a bid to the 2022 "Doing Business Texas Style" Spot Bid Fair for HUB Business. The annual Spot Bid Fair provides a forum for HUB and small business to compete for your business. Participation supports UT's commitment to creating a fair and open competitive market to create equal opportunity for HUB businesses to supply the goods and services needed to support the mission of the university.

The UT Austin HUB/SB Program Office assists HUB companies with understanding how to do business with UT Austin. The office hosts an annual Economic Opportunity Forum (EOF) event to give the HUB companies an opportunity to meet with UT faculty and staff.  The Office is also identifying innovation opportunities for sustainable business growth.

EQUITY

FAS Storytelling: Black Staff Experience

The FAS Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee will host an event this spring to listen and learn more about the Black stories within FAS.
In recognition of Black History Month, the Financial and Administrative Services (FAS) Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee will host a virtual event for staff who identify as Black to share their personal stories about their contributions and experiences at work and within their communities. The forum will also explore ways we can support and elevate an inclusive workplace for all.

Diversity is one of FAS’s shared core values, and this event will underscore the connections between individual stories and the positive impacts a diverse workforce has on our teams.

This virtual conversation will take place sometime this spring, depending on interest and availability. If you would like to participate, please reach out to the committee via email by Friday, March 4.
