Dear readers,
This month MOOD has been working on the preparation of the documentation to be presented to the end-users and on various events, including March's Task Leaders meeting and the Geneva Health Forum 2022. Additionally, read about the newly delivered outputs and webpages, the MOOD science webinar and upcoming workshops. 

NEWS
📅 Preparations for the 2nd MOOD Task Leaders Meeting
Building upon the outputs of the first Task Leaders meeting, this time MOOD partners will reach a technical consensus on how the different outputs of MOOD can be combined in a tool and decide on the interactions with the end-users.
  • During this two-day meeting, task leaders will be working to validate the technical documentation and prepare a version to share with users, while also preparing a list of questions addressing end-users and designing the interactions with end-user groups.
  • Everyone is invited to contribute to the discussion in person or via teleconference. The coordination will share a reminder 
Notes from the MOOD text mining workshop in Lisbon
On February 22-23-24th, twelve MOOD experts from the TETIS group, CIRAD, INRAE, AgroParisTech (France) and INESC-ID (Portugal)  met in Lisbon for a 3-day, face to face workshop to present and discuss d in-depth scientific and technical points regarding text-mining activities within MOOD. Game on for the Tularemia-Leptospirosis case study
Within MOOD, Leptospirosis is considered as model disease for neglected endemic pathogens with multiple transmission routes and reservoirs. The Leptospirosis case study has finally found a facilitator, Elena Arsevska (CIRAD) and will focus on the co-development of the Generic Data Access Module and the Generic Event-based Surveillance Module.

These web pages have the goal to inform external and internal partners about the work and progress of the case study, providing general information, contacts, details about the modules (tools) under development, as well as updates on activities. Share with your network!
MOOD Deliverables and Milestones: February 2022
Deliverable 7.1 Report on the second annual joint meeting of leadership consortia between MOOD and VEO project have been submitted. Find out the two consortia are planning to collaborate in 2022 on Alfresco. More Milestones and Deliverables here.

COVID-19 Scatterplots: Waves as circles
On February 23rd, we invited Julia Haas, Data Analyst and Developer at mundialis GmHb, who presented the newly developed application showing graphs for COVID-19 "status" in Germany, referring to incidence values and change of new cases in different German regions.
Building a web portal to improve the availability of data on ticks and tick-borne diseases
Xavier Bailly is a molecular epidemiologist at VetAgroSup (INRAE) working on various tick-borne pathogens, and leads the research unit that focuses on the epidemiology of animal and zoonotic diseases. In his talk, Xavier shared ideas about the implementation of a web portal that could be used to centralize data on tick dynamics and infection by tick-borne pathogens within the MOOD context.

In the last webinar, we hosted Karine Chalvet-Monfray from the EPIA group (Epidemiology of animal and zoonotic diseases) at the VetAgro SupINRAE. Over the past 7 years, Karine has been collecting standardized monthly observations of tick activity in France, resulting in the environmental and meteorological-based models. 
Timothee Dub is a research manager in the department of Health security of the Finnish institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and MOOD partner. Dr Dub is a public health medical doctor trained in epidemiology and a graduate from the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET, cohort 2017). Tim discussed his paper titled 'Game Animal Density, Climate, and Tick-Borne Encephalitis in Finland, 2007–2017' conducted as an EPIET fellow. 📅23-24.06.2022 MOOD Annual Consortium Meeting - NEW DATES
The MOOD Consortium Meeting in Montpellier (France) will take place on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th June 2022. The new dates have been established to give the opportunities to partners to attend the MOOD Summer School, which will be announced in March.
📅11-13.05.2022 5th International workshop on Aedes albopictus: the Asian tiger mosquito
The fifth edition of the workshop will take place in Montpellier, France and will create a unique opportunity to meet colleagues, enrich knowledge on the tiger mosquito and initiate collaborative works, in a very pleasant environment. The event is organized by Mariangela Bonizzoni and Giuliano Gasperi from the University of Pavia, Andrea Crisanti from the University of Padova (Italy), Yan Guiyun, UC Irvine (USA), Xioaguang Chen, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou (China), Anna Bella Failloux, Institut Pasteur Paris, Christophe Paupy, Didier Fontenille, IRD University of Montpellier (France).
📅 17.05.2022 The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tropical veterinary medicine education and research - online webinar
The Institute for Parasitology and Tropical Veterinary Medicine of the University of Berlin and UMR ASTRE in collaboration with CIRAD invite you on Tuesday 17 May 2022 from 12:00 to 15:00 CET to join a virtual event dedicated to the theme: “The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tropical veterinary medicine education and research”. Keynote lectures will be followed by a "flash talk" (5-minute presentation & 2-minute questions) session dedicated to young researchers (PhD and MSc) in which they can highlight their research in the field of tropical veterinary medicine and international animal health. The best presenter will receive a travel award for the next joint AITVM-STVM conference held in Montpellier, France in May 2023! Abstract submission closes on March 20th.
