Holy Cross is truly a parish of good will, which is to say that you, who are Holy Cross Parish, are people of good will. Your response to Catholic Charity’s request that we sponsor an Afghan family was so heartwarming. Katy Lichon, who spearheaded this effort, was impressed with how many parishioners purchased or donated items for the house, and how many parishioners moved items to the house, assembled pieces of furniture, and set up the beautiful house that you saw pictures of in our parish e- newsletter two Thursdays ago. In addition, a number of parishioners have volunteered their time and talent to support the family in the next several months as they settle into South Bend… It was not too long ago that our parish assisted in the creation of the Catherine Griffin House... Holy Cross Parish now has an active Catherine Griffin House Ministry with a number of parishioners lending their support to the men living in the house...
These are opportunities to put into practice the Gospel of Jesus Christ, along with other parish efforts such as our St. Vincent de Paul Society, meals at Hope Ministries, support of the Christ Child Society, and the many charities supported by our Knights of Columbus council. As Jesus reminds us, what we do for the least of our sisters and brothers we do for him.
