The White House Recognizes Importance of Parent Centers


In a recent Fact Sheet release, the Biden Administration Announces New Actions to Address the Needs of People with Disabilities and Older Adults in Response to and Recovery from COVID-⁠19, and in this document they note the Department of Education provides resources for parents who would like additional support in understanding how to navigate their child’s in-person learning experience through local regional parent training and information centers.

The Arc of PA’s Covid-19 Health Disparities Among People with Disabilities Initiative


The Arc of PA want to hear stories about your experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic. They’d like to know what things made it easy for people with disabilities to stay healthy and what challenges made it hard for people with disabilities to stay healthy during the pandemic. They’re offering 3 different sessions on Zoom to connect with you and collect your stories.

CDC Adds IDD To List Of Conditions At Increased Risk From COVID-19


The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the first time is acknowledging that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have an elevated risk of severe disease from COVID-19.

The list includes people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, birth defects, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, spinal cord injuries and “people with any type of disability that makes it more difficult to do certain activities or interact with the world around them, including people who need help with self-care or daily activities.”
