Events Recap

TAP-SF Volunteers: Alcatraz Historic Gardens

Thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered with us at the beautiful historic gardens of Alcatraz this weekend! We kicked off the sunny morning with some weeding, pruning, and gardening maintenance. At the end, we finished off the event with a tour of the island.

Missed this community service event? No worries — join us in April for our next one (details below)!

Lunar New Year 5K Run/Walk

Bright and early on a Sunday morning, our TAP-SF Internal Vice President Jenn and Health & Wellness Chair Peter represented TAP-SF in the 44th Annual Lunar New Year 5K to celebrate the Year of the Tiger representing resiliency, perseverance, and strength. Registration funds and donations will assist the YMCA in providing vital resources and affordable programming to the San Francisco community.

Upcoming Events

TAP-SF Hikes: Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park

When: Sunday, March 27 from 10 AM – 2 PM
Where: Dry Creek Pioneer Park Staging Area
Register here

Join TAP-SF for a fun morning hike at Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park in Union City. We will go on a 3.9 mile (813 ft elevation gain) moderately challenging loop trail that will take ~2 hours. The trail is dog-friendly and most parts allow off-leash, so bring your furry friend and let them run free! If you'd like to carpool to the hike, please leave a message in the event page so we can coordinate rides.

After the hike we will eat lunch at one of the nearby Taiwanese restaurants (TBD) and get to know each other.

TAP-SF Volunteers: At the Food Bank!

When: Saturday, April 2 from 11 AM – 1 PM
Where: Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano (4010 Nelson Ave, Concord, CA, 94520)
Register here

Bay Area food banks are facing a critical shortage of volunteers. To help, TAP-SF will be volunteering in the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano's warehouse.

We will sort and box food donations and box or bag fresh produce. Working as a team, volunteers will check food for quality, sort by category, and box or bag for distribution in the warehouse sorting areas. This position will require standing and some volunteers may need to lift filled boxes up to 35 pounds.
