Twenty four pilgrims joined us for the March Blue Mountains Camino 5-Day Walk, coming from various areas of Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Kanimbla, 2 from Canberra and 1 from Melbourne. Because four from the organising team were away, we were very fortunate to have Eileen and Richard, trained and experienced Hospitalerios on the Camino in Spain, come to Glenella Albergue to be Hospitalerios for the week.  

They say the Camino provides and that it did! Due to the extensive rains in the Blue Mountains leading up to the March 5-Day Walk where there were landslips and some high creeks and waterways, muddy tracks abound.  There were no train services for about 3 weeks including of course the week of our 5-Day Walk, however replacement buses, in fact 2 buses from Blackheath were the order of the week.  Carpooling arrangements were made for Day 1 and some slight re-mapping of walking routes by our map extraordinaire, Nick.   

It wouldn't be the Blue Mountains not to experience various weather conditions.  Days 1 and 2 were 30 degrees and as the pilgrims made their way up the mountains by Days 3 and 4 the rain and drizzle set in so a great test of wet weather gear!
 

A WhatsApp group for the March Walkers proved a useful tool for communication and Rosie sent Reflection of the Day each morning.

Another successful and fulfilling, from the organisers view, Blue Mountains Camino 5-Day Walk completed!  We thank each and every pilgrim for their participation and feedback to the survey which will help us in planning the next 5-Day Walk.  🙏

There is a dedicated team of volunteers who plan, recce and organise the Blue Mountains Camino 5-Day Walks, monthly Training Walks, Camino Meetups and other events.   We hold monthly Camino Training Walks and Meetups on the last Saturday of the month except December. When available Glenella in Blackheath will host Meetups and the Blue Mountains Camino 5-Day Pilgirms. Glenella is owned and managed by Margaret and Rowan Bouttell .
