Lenten Prayer Partners
Send a card to your prayer partner and on Easter reveal to them it was you praying for them throughout Lent. You can get them a little gift if you like, a card, a note, flowers, a prayer journal, these are all ways you can reveal yourself. However you choose please be sure to let them know you were their prayer partner. Encourage children and adults to continue to keep their “chosen” person and others in their prayers, spend some time getting to know that person in a special way.
“God, please be especially close to (Lenten Prayer Partner) today. Help them to know You, love You and serve You. Help them resist any temptations they may face today, and bring them through any struggles they may currently be dealing with. Please help me to be a positive influence and encouragement to others as I draw near to you and inspire and encourage them to do the same.”

Share Hope this Easter at the Charleston County Youth Detention Center
The Christmas bags that St. John’s provided the youth incarcerated at the Charleston County Youth Detention Center were so very appreciated according to Captain Brown. The most popular item in the bag—the Christmas cards! Your notes/cards meant a great deal to the youth.
You let them know they still mattered even behind bars, and they were grateful. We want to share hope again this Easter. We will be collecting the following items for the youth, aged 13 - 17:
- Easter cards - unsealed and sign first name only please (see additional note below)
- Toothpaste - full size
- Body Wash - NO bar soap - primarily for men - full size
- Deodorant - primarily for men - full size
- Hershey Chocolate bars - full size
Collection bins will be located in Walton Hall and Guerry Hall. Please bring your items by Palm Sunday - April 10th.
Easter cards - We welcome multiple cards/letters from parishioners. If you turn in a batch of cards/notes with the same message, please RUBBERBAND them together. It will make it easier when we are putting together the bags. We want to prevent giving someone two identical messages.
Thanks, in advance, for your help with this important project. Please begin praying now for the youth. Pray that hearts will be opened to finding out more about Jesus Christ. These youth desperately need hope. Questions, please contact Chrissy Binz or Libby Puckette.

Uganda Clergy Children’s Scholarships
St. John’s parishioners provide 75 clergy children in the Anglican Diocese of Northern Uganda (grades 3 - 12) with education scholarships. Each $150/year scholarship is nearly equivalent to a priest’s annual salary. For the same dollar value in the U.S., you can do 10 times more in this landlocked country of East Africa.
Thanks to your generosity, clergy children’s scholarships have grown from 30 when the program began. Bishop Lawrence commented that we “punch above out weight” in mission and outreach! Please prayerfully consider donating a scholarship or partial scholarship. In the memo line of your donation check, write: Uganda Scholarships. The clergy children and their families will be blessed. And you will be blessed as well.

Archbishop Beach's Appeal for the Ukraine
Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Lenten Greetings in the Name of Christ Jesus! As we begin our Lenten pilgrimage, let us not ignore the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding before our eyes in Europe. Our hearts are breaking at the scenes of Ukrainians under attack from Russian forces with bombs landing in neighborhoods, schools, and playgrounds. Many of us have family and friends living and working in Ukraine or serving with the local church.
Read more from Archbishop Foley Beach by clicking here
Are you able to help? The Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF) has received a $100,000 challenge gift to match dollar for dollar the first $100,000 received. This means your personal gift can be doubled. Please consider helping today by clicking here.

Dinner for St Alban's Chapel at The Citadel
Monday, April 11, 2022
St. John's will provide dinner for St Alban's Chapel prior to the Monday night worship service at The Citadel. More information to follow, but if you would like to be involved with preparing or serving food, please contact Ben Dixon for more information.
About St Alban's
The St. Alban's Anglican Chapel has offered chaplaincy and worship in the Anglican tradition to the Corps of Cadets since 1941. St Alban's is both the longest running and continually operating chaplaincy program and Christian ministry on The Citadel campus. Their Ministry of Presence offers an open door to any and everyone in need without condition. They minister to students, staff, alumni, and veterans on The Citadel campus, as well as students from the College of Charleston and Charleston Southern University. Their Radical Hospitality is committed to providing dinner, free of charge, at all gatherings, and maintain a lounge on campus, stocked with coffee, food and water. The lounge is open each day for study, sleep, fellowship, and Bible study.
St. Alban's is 100% dependent on the generosity of friends and donors, and St. John's is honored to join with other parishes in the Diocese in support of St. Alban's and its valuable ministry to the college students in the Charleston area.

March 20
Heavenly Father, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you: Look with compassion upon the heartfelt desires of your servants, and purify our disordered affections, that we may behold your eternal glory in the face of Christ Jesus; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

For Persecuted Churches
We pray for persecuted churches around the world. For the month of March, we pray for the nations of Ukraine.
Heavenly Father, we pray for Christians to persevere through war; we ask you for peace, the presence of Almighty God, to be with all people in Ukraine. May your Spirit preside over your people. Through your only Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.
