One of our X-tend WA program partners is the iconic Busselton Jetty, a not-for-profit organisation that is WA’s leading tourist destination, plus has a strong focus on marine conservation. The X-tend grant, in collaboration with For Blue, will support the development of sustainable marine industries aligned to the jetty’s environmental goals. Innovation Cluster is excited to be partnering with Australia’s South West,  the peak regional tourism organisation for the South West of Western Australia, to deliver a Tourism Product Incubator. This program is an innovation and entrepreneurship mentoring program to guide business agility, support new product development, and maximise regional recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cohort Announced!

Eight businesses have recently been selected for the 2022 HARVEST Agtech Accelerator, Western Australia’s leading business development program for innovative agtech startups and SMEs.
Now in its 5th year, HARVEST is unique in tailoring masterclasses to the needs of the participants, and in matching each business with grower mentors and on-farm trials.

The Future Works program was created and delivered in 2021/22 by Rural Enterprises and AgriStart to address the key labour shortage experienced in the primary industries sector. Participants were equipped  with  knowledge, skills and confidence for sustained employment in the agricultural industry. The program ensured targeted approach to increasing the knowledge and understanding of the diversity of careers available, particularly in horticulture and viticultureFind out how this was achieved.  The Local Jobs Program (LJP) is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment.

Kooyar Wongi have shared exciting news about their new joint venture business, Aboriginal Land Services (ALS) along with a newly established Busselton office and a new staff member coming on board. ALS is a majority Aboriginal-owned and led consultancy that believes in supporting Aboriginal strength and challenging the barriers that have excluded Aboriginal people from participating in the heritage and environmental industry.

“ALS is in a position to positively impact the way in which the Aboriginal cultural landscape is perceived, valued, managed and protected, through our work in heritage, environmental management and community engagement. They are intrinsically linked and need to be managed in a more holistic fashion if we are to see real change across a range of sectors.”, says majority owner and proud Nyungar man, Bill Bennell. Congratulations to Rocky Ridge for winning the Promoting Sustainability category in the Telstra Best of Business awards for WA recently. All Rocky Ridge beers are brewed at their off-grid, carbon-neutral facility in Jindong, Western Australia. Building Bulletproof Backs, a digital health solution for stubborn back pain sufferers,  has four new business entities recently developed and due to roll out in the next few months under the core theme of offering "Movement Solutions" locally and globally.  The Subscriber Based Movement Channel will launch soon and the virtual physiotherapy will expand its service delivery in July - including the launch of the Beta Tested and Refined Bulletproof Backs App.  
 

Drone Phenotyping: Revolutionising research to the leaf level. Stratus Imaging has partnered with MAPEO in Australia to deliver an end-to-end image processing solution for drone-based phenotyping, providing useful insights for a variety of crops. This real world application of data supports agricultural monitoring efforts, whilst minimising labour effort.  MAPEO’s advanced machine learning models can be incorporated into monitoring and research tasks.

No Frills Fertiliser have scaled up and finished commissioning their new blending facility, and can now formulate and deliver 100 % certified organic mineral blends to suit all soil types.

Indian Ocean Greens provides regenerative ocean grown seaweed to your plate and has recently  re-branded and begun working with the team at For Blue who are assisting   in the investigation of different coastal sites, preparing for scaling up and commercialisation.
