Dear <<First Name>>,

The next fast for peace is coming up on Tuesday, March 15. As always, you're invited to join the international event by abstaining from food for 24 hours, and drinking only water. With war in Ukraine, it's an important time to promote nonviolent solutions. If you haven't participated in a while, you can add your pledge at: surveymonkey.com/r/6CXZDFH

Many years ago, on March 15, 1918, Mohandas Gandhi began his first public fast, after a plague had ravaged Ahmedabad, India. Thousands of mill workers were on strike for a fair wage, but losing hope. To inspire them, Gandhi announced he would not eat until the strike was resolved, and three days later, mill owners and workers agreed to binding arbitration. You can read more of the story here: bit.ly/2XVvISn

Each month, participants in the fast for peace are encouraged to donate the money they save on food to help others, and invited to nominate a charity for upcoming months. For March, Invisible People was nominated and selected. Launched in 2008, they work to fight homelessness by sharing people's stories and giving the issue a face. According to their website, their educational content reaches a billion people each year. Their message of humanizing people at society's margins is in line with Gandhi's strategy of listening to those who otherwise went unheard. You can learn more on their website and make a donation at: invisiblepeople.tv/donate

February's post-fast survey asked about inflation and the size of the Supreme Court. If you didn't get it, you may have been removed from the survey list for a long period of inactivity. Want to make sure your voice is heard on important peace issues facing America and the world? Add your pledge for February at this link: surveymonkey.com/r/6CXZDFH
