La Fundació Banc Sabadell publica i obre noves edicions dels seus Premis a investigadors amb excel·lent trajectòria en els àmbits de: Ciències i Enginyeria, Investigació Biomèdica i Investigació Econòmica (fins el 31/03/2021).
Requisits dels candidats: tenir fins a 42 anys (40 anys en la modalitat d'Econòmica) (a 31 de desembre de 2021), que portin un mínim de 3 anys continuats fent la seva recerca a Espanya.

When identifying differentially expressed genes between two conditions using human population RNA-seq samples, we found a phenomenon by permutation analysis: DESeq2 and edgeR have unexpectedly high false discovery rates. Expanding the analysis to limma-voom, NOISeq, dearseq, and Wilcoxon rank-sum test, we found that FDR control is often failed except for the Wilcoxon rank-sum test. Based on these results, for population-level RNA-seq studies with large sample sizes, we recommend the Wilcoxon rank-sum test.

More and more companies are today in the grip of a new phenomenon. I’ve termed it ‘metric fixation’. The key components of metric fixation are the belief that it is possible to replace professional judgment with numerical indicators of comparative performance based upon standardised data; and that the best way to motivate people within these organisations is by attaching rewards and penalties to their measured performance. But the most dramatic negative effect of metric fixation is its propensity to incentivise gaming.
