Geomagnetic Disturbance Alert

Geomagnetic Disturbance Alert Update

14th March 2022

British Geological Survey

The full-halo Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) observed on the 10th of March has arrived on Sunday 13th of March, resulting in a major disturbance in the Earth’s geomagnetic field, known as a geomagnetic STORM.

Geomagnetic conditions and solar wind parameters are expected to gradually return to background levels over the next couple of days. Further ACTIVE and STORM intervals are still anticipated today due to the ongoing CME effects.
