What's New with the Trailblazers

Recently the Trailblazers met with deans from NWACC and the University of Arkansas to outline educational opportunities for sustainable trail design and development. The goal is to develop an accreditation process to train students wanting to get into the trail development and maintenance fields. Exciting news for the trail development industry!

Did you know our team works alongside the Friends of Arkansas Singletrack Trail Adoption Program? We help review what trail work needs to be done and help teach proper maintenance techniques, and recently, we had the opportunity to speak to their volunteers about it. Pictured is Hogan Koesis of the Trailblazers going over techniques.

To stay up to date with our development, maintenance, and special projects, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Public Input Sought to Inform Regional Infrastructure Priorities

Residents of Benton and Washington counties are being asked to participate in a survey to help the Northwest Arkansas Council infrastructure work group as it sets priorities in the coming years.

The Council reestablished its infrastructure work group this year to effectively pursue funding now available as a result of the recently passed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Questions in the online survey inquire about highway expansions, broadband, public transportation, water protection, recycling and how to prepare for an expected surge in use of electric vehicles in Northwest Arkansas and across the U.S.

We are asking our active transportation and bike advocates make sure you select that "roads should have bicycle infrastructure” in the survey!

Survey participants will be entered into a drawing to win one of five $100 Walmart gift cards. The survey will close on Tuesday, March 22.

Help Fund a Bike Program for Eureka Springs Middle School!

We are helping Eureka Springs Middle School raise matching funds for a 5th through 8th grade bike program- Riding For Focus.  We believe that everyone, regardless of background or ability, should have access and benefit from the network of trails in Northwest Arkansas.

Riding for Focus is great because it promotes cycling as an outlet for students to improve their cognitive, physical, and socioemotional well-being.  The school needs $10,000 in funds from the community to get the program.  All donations up to $10,000 will be matched 1:1 by our organization that is made possible by support from the Walton Family Foundation.  Our goal is to raise the money needed by June 1st!

Please donate today or send the link to someone that you know would like to support bike education in schools
