Wellness Tip: Move Your Body
Earlier this year, the CDC released an updated map of inactivity prevalence in adults. When asked "During the past month, other than your regular job, did you participate in any physical activities or exercises such as running, calisthenics, golf, gardening, or walking for exercise", over 20% of DC residents responded "No". According to the CDC, as little as 30 minutes of movement each day contributes to lower risk of a number of chronic diseases including hypertension, heart attack , and stroke.
