From 1 to 3 April, B-Industrial, the European industrial tourism fair, will be held in Barcelona. EFAITH will be present with a stand and will organise a workshop "Developments in industrial tourism" on 2 April. We hope to meet you and many colleagues there.

Du 1er au 3 avril, B-Industrial, le salon européen du tourisme industriel se tiendra à Barcelone. L'EFAITH sera présent avec un stand et organisera un atelier "Dévelopments dans le tourisme industriel" le 2 avril. Nous espérons vous y rencontrer ainsi que de nombreux collègues.

Our annual weekends are always a platform for exchanging experiences and ideas. The planned meeting in 2020 had to be postponed for well-known reasons, and again last year.
This year, we want it to take place from 13 to 15 May, at the original location and with the original programme.

We hope to be able to welcome you in South-West Flanders, in Kortrijk and Harelbeke, a stone's throw from Lille. In a region that was the centre of flax fibre production in Europe, with a rich industrial heritage: steam engines, mills, breweries, ... The first cross-border railway in the world also ran through this area.

Nos week-ends annuels sont toujours une plateforme d'échange d'expériences et d'idées. La réunion prévue en 2020 a dû être reportée pour des raisons bien connues, et à nouveau l'année dernière.
Cette année, nous voulons qu'elle ait lieu du 13 au 15 mai, à l'endroit et avec le programme originaux.

Nous espérons pouvoir vous accueillir dans le sud-ouest de la Flandre, à Courtrai et Harelbeke, à deux pas de Lille. Dans une région qui était le centre de la production de fibres de lin en Europe, avec un riche patrimoine industriel : machines à vapeur, moulins, brasseries, etc. Le premier chemin de fer transfrontalier du monde traversait également cette région.

The aim of the HECTOR project is ambitious: to provide specialised European training on industrial heritage and industrial tourism for people working in the tourism sector. These include tour operators, employees of tourist boards and guides, as well as students from various disciplines who aspire to a future job in tourism.
HECTOR partners come from Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Austria and Germany and are joined by EFAITH.

Training participants will come from different European countries.
As required by Erasmus+ projects, HECTOR aims to facilitate integration into the world of work and employment: the project is particularly useful for the tourism sector, providing theoretical advice, direct contact with experts in the field and an innovative angle on tourism products based on industrial archaeology.

The training tools of the project consist of a theoretical online course followed by a practical course from 12 to 18 September 2022 in Italy.   The online course will be available from 1 March 2022. Anyone who wishes to do so can participate without exception.
At the end of the online course, participants will be able to test their knowledge using a series of multiple-choice questions. Those who pass will receive a certificate of participation and will be able to take part in the selection for the practical course.
This consists of a week-long intensive course conducted entirely in English. It includes, besides various training activities, meetings with experts from the tourism sector and institutions relevant to the project, and visits to the region and the mining museum in Abbadia. Participation is reserved for persons aged between 18 and 30, who live in one of the countries of the European Union, have an average knowledge of English and passed the selection test.

The aim of project 'Genius Loci', co-financed by the European Commission under the COSME programme, was to promote the industrial heritage of SMEs. During this project, a unique industrial heritage label with QR code was developed, Industriana. It can be applied to the façade of industrial sites, traditional businesses, museums, etc. Using their smartphone, passers-by can then scan the QR code and retrieve up to 5 pages of information. This is possible - for each page - in several languages.
After Genius Loci ended, EFAITH took over the management of Industriana and expanded the possibilities. During COVID, development was briefly halted, but recently a whole series of sites in various countries have been added.
In the meantime, a number of sites have submitted their candidacy and will be evaluated by the Industriana jury in the course of the next few weeks.

L'objectif du projet "Genius Loci", cofinancé par la Commission européenne dans le cadre du programme COSME, était de promouvoir le patrimoine industriel des PME. Au cours de ce projet, un label unique du patrimoine industriel avec un code QR a été développé, Industriana. Il peut être fixé sur la façade de sites industriels, de commerces traditionnels, de musées, etc. À l'aide de leur smartphone, les passants peuvent alors scanner le code QR et récupérer jusqu'à 5 pages d'informations. Cela est possible - pour chaque page - en plusieurs langues.
Après l'arrêt de Genius Loci, EFAITH a repris la gestion d'Industriana et a élargi les possibilités. Pendant le COVID, le développement a été brièvement interrompu, mais récemment, toute une série de sites dans différents pays ont été ajoutés.
Entre-temps, un certain nombre de sites ont soumis leur candidature et seront évalués par le jury d'Industriana au cours des prochaines semaines.

On the EFAITH website, we have added a calendar of study days, conferences, exhibitions, open door days,... on industrial and technical heritage. It currently includes data from 13 European countries and is continuously updated.
