Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

  • PVCC has Virginia State Police recruiting on campus this week between 12-2 p.m. in the Student Center on Tuesday, March 15.  Stop by and talk with Senior Trooper Brad Crews about their hiring and benefits!  They seek candidates from all majors but PVCC's police science students are particularly encouraged to talk with him!  On Thursday, March 17, 12-2pm, Sgt. Antonio Perry will be available to talk with you about all of the benefits there are for students to pursue the U.S. Army Reserve to help support yourself while in school.
  • Learn about PVCC's Radiography & Advanced Medical Imaging programs on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:30pm. Registration required to get the zoom link.
  • Virginia Career Works (VCW) hosts a weekly virtual job search prep workshop on Tuesdays, at 2pm. This week's topic on March 15 is Interview Preparation. Registration required.  Their Thursday, March 17, 1pm, Employers of the Week, are Saber Health and Greene Hills Club.  Registration required.  
  • Attention technology students/alumni who want to get paid to travel the world -  attend TODAY's (Monday, March 14 at 2 pm) webinar to learn more about global information technology opportunities with the State DepartmentRegistration required.
  • Attention computing students/alumni:  Did you miss UVA SCPS "Why Cloud Computing" Careers / Training last week?  No worries - it was recorded (passcode = 09@^9WpB). Expert panelists from Amazon, Microsoft and IBM participated. They are hosting an Information Session about their Cloud Computing Certificate on Tuesday, March 16 at 6:30pm.  Registration required.
  • U.S. Facilities / PRWT is hosting a Hiring Event on Wednesday, March 16, 9am-3pm at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott (401 Cherry Ave).  They seek to hire Rest Stop Attendants and Grounds Maintenance staff members with offering day/night and full-time or part-time opportunities. There is a $250 sign-on bonus; pay is $11-15/hour.
  • CareerEco is hosting a virtual Diversity & Inclusion Job/Internship Fair on Wednesday, March 16, 11am-3pm.  Registration required.
  • Albemarle County is hosting a Bus Driver and Transportation Assistant Job Fair on Friday, March 18, 9am-3pm at the Fashion Square Parking Lot. Bus Drivers earn $15.73/hour while in training and up to $18.88/hour (DOE).  Flexible hours!  Apply online
  • Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hosting a Hiring Event on Friday, March 18, 11:30am-1:30pm at the Waynesboro Public Library (600 S. Wayne Ave). Pay starts at $18.59/hour with a possible $1000 sign-on bonus.  They have both part-time and full-time Security Officer positions.

  • Zion Christian Children's Center seeks a full-time or part-time After school/summer Lead Teacher paying $15/hour. Apply on College Central Network (CNN -- it's free to use!)
  • Qualified Staffing seeks candidates for a part-time Teaching Assistant position that pays $15/hour. Hours are M-F 8-5pm.
  • ReadyKids seeks a full-time (30 hours/week, plus full health benefits) Early Learning Specialist starting at $27,000/year. Visit www.readykidscville.org for full position description and application procedures.  They also seek a full-time Family Support Worker that has a starting salary of $36,000.
  • Do you enjoy helping people with disabilities? Charlottesville City Parks & Rec seeks summer camp adaptive and inclusion counselors paying $16/hour. They also posted a Summer Camp Inclusion Coordinator position that pays up to $23/hour *and* an Adaptive Camp Director position that pays $23/hour on CCN - a job listing resource open to all to use.
  • The SPCA has a number of openings but they recently posted the full-time Animal Care Specialist position that pays $31,200. Apply by 3/30.  They also have a full-time Clinic Receptionist position.
  • Commonwise is hiring CNA/PCA Caregivers and pays $15-19/hour. They offer flexible scheduling to work with your schedule!
  • Octapharma Plasma has a number of openings for Phlebotomists if you've earned your license through PVCC (or elsewhere). They also have an entry-level part-time Processing Technician  and a full-time Lab Shipping Technician opening as well.
  • Central Virginia Health Services, Inc. (CVHS) has several openings in Charlottesville: Patient Services Rep, Medical Assistant, Medical Secretary, LPN and Care Coordinator (needs LPN + experience)
  • Crozet Pizza is hiring a server (must have weekend availability!)
  • Keswick is hiring a Maitre D' to welcome guests.
  • Charlottesville City is hiring a full-time Deputy Sheriff, paying $42,286.40-$49,004.80. Apply by 3/18.

  • The Science Museum in Richmond has many summer opportunities that pay $12/hour: Summer Camp Counselors, Gallery Educators, Guest Services Associates, Retail Generalists, and some Internships (marketing, STEM research, maker space, museum exhibition, life science, planet shark and DEI). This would be a great way to add to your resume if you have housing in that area or don't mind the drive. Apply by March 20.
Do you like doing administrative, accounting, or creative work?
  • PVCC seeks a part-time Afternoon Circulation Assistant paying $15/hour.
  • Havertys of Charlottesville seeks a full-time Store Display Assistant ($15/hour + benefits), a Design Consultant (typical earnings are between $55-80,000) and a part-time Office Associate ($15/hour).  
  • UVA has a number of full-time and one part-time Medical Scribe opportunities available paying $15/hour:  PT Urology, FT Pediatrics, FT Plastic Surgery, FT Neurology, FT Orthopedics and FT Pain Management.  This is a great way to get a paid on-the-job exposure to the healthcare field. If you've taken PVCC's medical terminology class, that would benefit your application.
  • Kid Pan Alley (KPA), a non-profit arts organization that provides in-school and online group creative songwriting workshops for children, seeks a highly motivated, self-directed, Program Administrator, working 30-40 hours per week with paying $17-21/hour (plus a bonus incentive!). Apply by 3/25/22. 
  • CATEC's Adult Education Office is looking to fill an Office Associate position that pays $16.52 - $21.44. The work hours are 10:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. M-Th, 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Friday.
  • Charlottesville's Dept. of Social Services seeks a full-time Benefits Program Specialist paying $39,217.92 - $61,505.60 depending on experience and education (bachelor's degree not required BUT an interest in helping people is).
  • Qualified Staffing is seeking candidates for a temporary Administrative Assistant position that pays $20/hour. Hours are M-F 7:30-4:30pm or 8-5pm. 
  • Yay Lunch has a full-time Account Manager position that has an anticipated salary of $50,000.
  • Robbins Staffing has a number of openings in the Charlottesville area including data entry, accounting, investment operations, and office management positions. They are participating in PVCC's Annual Job Fair on March 30 so if you're not ready for a job right now, talk with them at the event which is open to all in the community.
  • Tiger Fuel / Solar seeks an Accounts Receivable Specialist, as well as a variety of other positions.
  • Qualified Staffing was great to post more jobs with PVCC including a FT Payroll position that pays $17-20/hour and a FT Account Sales Executive position that pays $25-35,000 base plus commission. Check them out on CCN OR visit their website. Talk with them at PVCC's Annual Job Fair on March 30, 10am-2pm as well!
  • Goodwin William Staffing seeks a full-time Regional Staffing Coordinator paying $36-50,000. They were great to also post a number of other positions on CCN: FT/PT Bartenders/Servers ($18-20/hour) and FT/PT Inventory Associates ($15/hour). 
  • The University of Richmond's "The Cellar" has a full-time Hospitality Management position that pays $37,944-$50,275 annually with a possible $1000 sign-on bonus.
Do you like computers or doing other technical/STEM kinds of work?

  • Are you good with data? The American Red Cross has a 3-month, part-time position to work from home!
  • The Virginia Space Grant Consortium / CSIIP program is a great way to get paid $11+/hour for a part-time or full-time computing (including cyber!) / technical internship; they have placements across the state and some remote possibilities.  Talk with them at PVCC's Annual Job Fair on March 30, 10am-2pm!
  • Central Virginia Electric Coop (in Nelson Co.) has several openings: IT Technician ($62,000-$77,500), Member Services Representative ($19.47 - $24.33/hour), and Supply Team Associate ($19-24/hour)
  • Amplified Electronic Design seeks a Low Voltage Electronics Technician
  • Diversey is hiring a full-time Field Service Technician with benefits.
  • General Dynamics IT has a full-time Desktop Support Technician opening (security clearance NOT required for this position BUT an associate's degree is plus you must be a U.S. citizen).  
  • Yay Lunch is hiring for several roles, including a Data Analyst and Data Engineer.
  • Monticello is hiring for several departments, including an Archeological Field Technician, Crew Chief and Curator (bachelor's degree required for the last two), and more! Pay starts at $15/hour. 
Do you like cooking, skilled trades, hands-on, or outdoor/physical kinds of work?

  • TC Energy in Stanardsville seeks a Pipeline / Compressor Technician who will perform a combination of duties pertaining to the transmission and/or storage of natural gas. Apply by 3/21/22.
  • PMG posted a number of entry-level positions for those who don't mind some travel as a part of their job. This Entry-Level Machinist position pays $25-30/hour, their Welder position pays $26/hour and their Production Technician position pays $25/hour. Overtime pay is also possible!   • The U.S. Forest Service Wildland Firefighter Readiness Camp is accepting applications for its summer program (6/27-6/30). Prospective entry-level federal wildland firefighters are encouraged to apply (if 18 or older by 6/26). Deadline to apply is 5/1/22.
