Lightning Ridge Black Opal Bull and Bronc Ride
Outback Opal Hunters and mining machinery line-up
Street Stalls and Carnival
Annual Miners Rickshaw challenge, strength challenges, famous egg and spoon races
Lightning Ridge Race Club Horse Races
Big Dig for over $15,000 worth of solid opals
Little Dig for over $3,500 worth of ‘techie’ prizes for the kids
Live entertainment at numerous venues in the Ridge and Grawin

If you are a new resident to Lightning Ridge or the greater Walgett Shire book in to our New Resident Event for 2022. Lightning Ridge Rotary Club together with Walgett Shire Council are hosting a welcome evening and you're invited!!!

Employment Opportunity: Plant Operator – Roller x 4
Council has four (4) full-time permanent positions available for Plant Operators (Roller) within the Engineering/Technical Services Department.
Responsibilities include the efficient operation and maintenance of assigned plant in accordance with relevant legislation and workplace policies and procedures.
The successful applicant will possess a WHS Construction Induction card, experience in operating a roller and minor plant, good communication skills, RMS traffic control tickets (or willingness to obtain) and an Australian Class C driver’s licence.
Remuneration Grade 1 range $47,455.00 - $57,084.00 per annum subject to qualifications and competencies as identified in the position description.

Dolly Parton’s imagination library is a free monthly home delivered book program for children from 0 to 5 years old. Any child born from 1st January 2022 currently residing in the WALGETT Shire is eligible. Reading to your baby provides the building blocks they need for language development as well as equips them with the tools they require to develop social and emotional skills. Now Open - Regional Sport Events Fund - stimulating local economies through sport
The objective of the Regional Sport Events Fund (the Fund) is to support LGA Councils in identified regional locations to host sporting events that will:
encourage greater visitation to regional Australia
reinvigorate local economies
provide opportunities for community members to reconnect and celebrate through sport
Two funding streams are available:
Stream 1 – grants between $1,000 and $10,000 to support small community sporting events in Very Remote, Remote, Outer Regional and Inner Regional areas.
Stream 2 – grants between $15,000 and $50,000 to support large regional sporting events in Very Remote, Remote, Outer Regional and Inner Regional areas.

Gamilaroi rap artist Kobie Dee is bringing his talent, voice, and powerful lyrics to the region from this weekend with the free concert series - Gomeroi Nation Tour. Kobie said "Having the opportunity to perform on my Country means a lot to me from a cultural and healing perspective, telling my stories through music and dance, passing on knowledge, experience and wisdom like my ancestors have for thousands of years." Also scheduled on stage will be Triple One, NTER, Nooky and more! Dates are:

Service NSW is returning to Collarenebri on Thursday, 7th April 2022 in our Mobile Service Centre. We will be located at the Lions Park in Walgett Street between the times of 10am to 3pm.
Please find below our information for you to inform those in your community that we are returning, unfortunately I cannot provide a poster for this date. If possible, are you able to advertise our next visit on your local Facebook page, local newsletter and/or community notice boards?
A friendly reminder that our dedicated Service NSW team on board can provide support across a broad range of services:
- Roads & Maritime Services (including licence and registration renewals and applications).
- Processing of NSW Fitness to Drive Medical Assessments and Mobility Parking Applications.
- Processing of RSA and RCG cards.
- Undertaking Driver Knowledge Tests.
- Births, Deaths and Marriages (including birth, marriage, death and change of name certificates).
- Application and Renewal of Working with Children Checks on behalf of Office of Children’s Guardian.
