Howdy Familia! It almost feels like it was a few weeks ago when we announced Region 5 RLDC and us being host professional chapter along with the Texas A&M student chapter. It's been weeks of hard work for the talented students and professionals that stepped up to be committee members. All that work will pay off within a couple of days and we have great news... RLDC 5 is now at capacity and with this, registration is closed! See you all in a couple of days at College Station!
Another exciting announcement...yes; Elections!! We are now officially receiving nominations for next year's board. This is always great for the Houston Professional Chapter as we always have amazing participation and every year we receive great members to run for our open positions. Think about it and step up to be a leader for our Hispanic community!!
I want to remind you that if you are not a paid member, what are you waiting for? And if you are a member, make sure your membership is current because that's the only way you can have access to special events and our t-shirts - not to mention that part of the cost of the membership helps us to operate and part of it goes to scholarships. Please stay safe, stay strong, and continue to be SHPE Familia!
Please don't forget about the Houston Professional Chapter when you hear about matching donation programs at your company! Donations through these programs are a huge help towards our scholarship funding every year. If you have questions about this, please reach out to any one of our officers.

RLDC5 2022
UPDATE: REGISTRATION CLOSED!
TAMU SHPE is proud to present this year’s RLDC Region 5! Join the SHPE familia on March 10 - 13 to develop your professional and leadership skills. Region 5 includes chapters from Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. Registration opens on January 19!

We recognize that 2021 was a challenging year for our teachers and we want to be able to give back to our educators who are making a difference in our community. (STEM Scholarship Fundraiser)
Join us on Friday May 6th for our 2022 Scholarship Gala!
*Dress code is formal* and *ALL PROCEEDS* go to SHPE Houston's STEM Scholarship Fund.
The highlight of the evening will be the recognition of the 2022 ScholarSHPE recipient cohort. These college students will have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, community involvement, and commitment to the SHPE Mission. Professional members, students, educators, community members, and new-comers are welcome.

National Chapter Program Awards SHPE Houston Professional with "Blue Chip Award"
BLUE CHIP CHAPTER AWARDS - These awards are given to chapters based on proven performance in the first or second half of the SHPE year as detailed in their chapter reports. A minimum of 80% (12 of the 15 points) of the points per chapter report are required for award eligibility. Chapters are eligible to win this honor twice a year (one with each report submitted) if they meet the requirements
