We Need to Worry About the Logging Sector


Writing for the Forest Resources Association, INRS’ Eric Kingsley writes about a link in the forest industry supply chain facing some very real challenges.  “Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to speak with a dozen or more loggers across the Northeast, and I am worried about what I hear. Almost universally, loggers express concerns about their economic health and wonder what their future will bring,” Kingsley said. Read the entire post here.

 

Levesque speaks at Ohio Forestry Association Annual Meeting on Forest Carbon and Timber Availability
 
Charles Levesque, INRS partner, spoke as a keynote at the Ohio Forestry Association’s annual meeting in Columbus, Ohio on March 3.  His talk, “How Could Forest Carbon Markets Affect the Hardwood Industry?”, focused on the concern folks in the forest products industry have around the country that timber supplies are being threatened by forest carbon offset sales.  His conclusions may surprise you.  See the PowerPoint presentation HERE.

Levesque Megatrends Article Series in Northern Logger Concludes

INRS partner Charlie Levesque has written a 3-part series of articles for the Northern Logger magazine on megatrends affecting everyone and, more specifically, how they are impacting forestry and the forest products industry in the U.S. and northeast.  The first was released in the January 2022 issue of the magazine, the second in February and the third just recently in the March issue.
