April is "STRESS AWARENESS MONTH" and who hasn't experienced many levels of stress after these past few years with the pandemic.  ALL OF US KNOW WHAT STRESS IS!  Have you learned HOW TO deal with the stress in your life?  Here are some things you can do to help yourself and loved ones when stressed:
  • Take Care of Yourself and take time for yourself.  Do things that relax you and that you enjoy.
  • Take a walk, exercise and take a break away from the moment of stress to get your thoughts and emotions settled.
  • Journal your thoughts and emotions.  This can help as a release of the tension and emotions you are dealing with.
  • Listen to soothing music that can relax your mind and body.  Listen to uplifting and encouraging songs that bring you joy.
  • Pray and read scripture.  Listen to the Holy Spirit and release your frustrations and concerns to God who loves you and knows you and provides all you have need of, learning to trust Him and grow in your faith.
  • Get some SUNSHINE!  You get vitamin D from the sun and all that warmth gives you that "good mood" feeling and is very healthy for your body.
  • Eat well.  Eat food that isn't processed.  Eat food that is seasonal and fresh.  Eating well helps fight the cellular damage that can happen when your body is under emotional and physical stress.
  • Drink more water and hydrate!  Water is the refresher to our body and helps wash out the some of the harmful damage done by stress in our lives.
  • ASK FOR HELP!  If you find yourself overwhelmed and need help talk to a friend, pastor, or call us at Paula's Hope.  We are here for you in your time of need.  Learn more...

Hi, I’m Marni Rogers!  I have been a friend of Paula’s Hope since its opening and started serving as a Discipleship Counselor in 2020.  I gave my life to God at the age of 10 years old and very passionate about volunteering and sharing God’s love.  16 years ago, God called me to Arkansas to help my family.  My mother is from Puerto Rico and my dad is from New Hampshire.  My dad, who is not my biological father, met my mom when I was 17 years old and would later adopt me to show his unconditional love.  Like my dad, God continues to show His unconditional love.  God has blessed me with a rewarding career at the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce where I am currently employed.  In 2016, I went back to school to finish my bachelor’s and became a first-generation college graduate.  One fact about me that always surprises people is I have never been married and have no children.  At 51 years old, God had other plans for me, and I am so happy to be a child of God!  I’m thankful for the talents He has given me to serve Paula’s Hope where I can give hope to those who are broken and to reach those who do not know Him.  I do not have much to give but I do have love.  A couple of my favorite verses are 1 John 4:19 “We love because He first loved us” and 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Do everything in love.”
Thank you for all you do for Paula’s Hope!

Happy Easter from Paula's Hope.  Easter is well known for the crucifixion and the resurrection of Christ, as it should be and rightfully so.  But I draw your attention this Easter to the Garden of Gethsemane and Jesus in prayer.  In three accounts: Matthew, Mark, and Luke, they all tell of how he went to the garden to pray as was customary for him and his disciples to meet there. This time when he went he was overcome with anguish, grief, and sadness as he prayed.  Repeatedly, he asked the disciples to remain with him and pray.  Repeatedly, he asked God to take this cup from him.  And repeatedly he came back to all of them sleeping and God's silence.  Luke has the only account of Jesus praying and an angel giving him strength and still his anguish was so great his sweat became like drops of blood.  But what really drew my attention was in the book of John.  There was not an account of what happened in the garden, but a prayer from Jesus himself before he went there.  This is His prayer condensed and highlighted.
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come.  Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.  And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent..... "I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world.  They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.... they have believed that You sent Me.
"I pray for them.  I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours.  And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them..... I have given them Your word: and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.  Sanctify them by Your truth.  Your word is truth.  As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world.  And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.  "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.  And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as we are one: I in them, and You in Methat they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that YOU have sent Me, and have loved them as YOU have loved Me....And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."
This is the prayer Jesus prayed before He died for us.  He knew what was coming and yet he prayed for us.  He would soon be overwhelmed to the point of death and yet He spoke of us to the Maker of Heaven and Earth.  He didn't want us to be forgotten or overlooked after believing in Him and the truth He gave us.  What a wonderful savior Jesus is and what a wonderful Father God is since Jesus is a representation of our Father in Heaven.  Jesus' life was a great representation of communication with the Father through prayer.  Even at the very end of His life He prayed for us as well.  Praise God for His Son Jesus and His beautiful sacrifice for us all this Easter!  Let us be like Him everyday in communication with the Father until the end.
Thanks So Much!
