Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please join us tonight for our PAC (Parent Activity Club) meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. We will be planning fun events for our students this spring and talking about PAC’s involvement in PSIA coming up on the 26th of March. This is a great opportunity to support our students! I hope to see you all there.
Last Tuesday, Mr. Smith and I had the honor of attending the 2022 St. Thomas Aquinas Leadership Mass with Bishop Vásquez. Each year we have the privilege of selecting four 7th or 8th grade students who exhibit excellence in leadership and service in their school, parish and community. This year’s honorees are Rosie Mosmeyer, Sarah Barkis, Wesley Kuriger and Ceilo Gonzalez-Fernandez. Congratulations to our amazing future leaders.
Speaking of PSIA (Private School Interscholastic Association), it is time to volunteer as we host this event for the first time in many years. Since it will be on our campus this year, and our students do not have to travel, everyone has the opportunity to help out and earn service hours at the same time. We will need help in all areas during the day from involvement in the contests themselves to food areas to school maintenance. I will be sending a separate email to all parents with specific details before Friday. Please, please help us make this day wonderful not only for our students but for the visiting schools.
Mrs. Hoelting, our Middle School Language Arts teacher will go on maternity leave beginning March 21st. Ms. Ellen Lockhart, who is currently working through Catapult Learning as our resources specialist, has accepted the position as a long term substitute.
Ms. Lockhart earned her bachelor’s degree from LSU. She returned to her hometown in Shreveport, LA where she pursued a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Teaching. She worked as a 3-year-old assistant and a kindergarten assistant while she earned her master’s degree from Northwestern University of Louisiana (NSULA). She taught kindergarten before she moved to Temple, TX where she accepted the position of intervention teacher.
Since coming to St. Mary’s, Ms. Lockhart has been working with all grades levels creating individualized lessons for small group instruction. She enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures. Ms. Lockhart is excited to help students grow in all areas of the curriculum.
We will welcome a new interventionist after spring break.
Report cards for the 3rd quarter will be open on Renweb this Friday for grades 2-8 and sent home for Pre-K through 1st grades. NWEA testing results will be sent home this Friday for grades K-8. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Have a great day.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wyles
