Made with Vulkan!

Vulkan LogoA new feature on the Vulkan website is a database of known Vulkan Apps. It is by no means an exhaustive list, but we hope to make it one. With over 380 titles we are on our way. Check it out to see if your favorite application is there and if you have an app to add, please let us know

Vulkan SC: Overview - and how it is different from the Vulkan you already know

Vulkan SC LogoThe Vulkan SC 1.0 API successfully evolves the proven, explicit level of control in Vulkan 1.2, and streamlines it further to reduce safety certification documentation and testing surface area. Vulkan SC enables state-of-the-art GPU-accelerated graphics and computation to be deployed in safety-critical systems that are certified to meet industry functional safety standards.

This blog provides a summary of the updates that have been made to create Vulkan SC 1.0 and explains how these new capabilities are typically used in applications. It is assumed that the reader has a reasonable understanding of the Vulkan API.

Khronos KTX 2.0 Textures in OGC’s I3S v1.2 Puts the Whole World in Your Hands

KTX LogoEsri, a member of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), worked with the community to release the Indexed 3D Scene Layer (I3S) specification to make massive geospatial content available across platforms and devices, including web browsers, mobile devices, and desktop applications. I3S was adopted by the OGC in 2017.

The latest version of I3S, version 1.2, adds support for KTX™ 2.0 textures reducing transmission size, GPU memory consumption, and encoding time. A Scene Layer using KTX 2.0 loads faster, consumes less memory and power, and is practically identical in terms of image quality.

Vulkanised 1.3 SDK Webinar

Vulkanised 1.3 WebinarMarch 10, 2022

Join us for the next Vulkanised webinar, Developing with the Vulkan 1.3 SDK. This two-hour webinar is part of the Vulkanised series of educational webinars for Vulkan developers.

Agenda
  • Validation Layer Performance
    • Learn about the new fine-grained locking feature for validation layers and how to use it.  In addition, an overview of the design of the fine-grained locking implementation in the validation layers will be given to help understanding of how the new validation layers affect your Vulkan application. For background information on the validation layer visit the Khronos Validation Layer Repository.
  • Vulkan Profiles Toolset
    • A deep dive into the details of the Vulkan Profiles Toolset, including how it works and how to use it. The Vulkan Profiles Toolset enables application developers to generate their own app-specific feature profiles, easily detect whether a device supports a given profile, and enable the features/extensions in a profile at application startup. For background information on the latest Vulkan profiles read the recent Vulkan 1.3 Press Release and Blog Post, as well as the Vulkan Profiles Toolset Solution white paper.
