INTRODUCTION

Here we are in the final throes of winter, we’ve had some warm spells which really got us thinking about that first session of the year! We are quickly approaching the one-year anniversary of the CCS, we’ve come a long way in just one year and are excited for what is to come in 2022.

Reminder: Please ensure your payment details are up to date. Your CCS Membership will automatically renew for the 2022 season. It will be quite a busy month here for work behind the scenes.

CCS CALENDARS HAVE LANDED!

Thank you to all who participated in last year's Monthly Photo Competition. The winners’ photos have been received and added to the first ever CCS Annual Calendar. A lot of work went into this project and we couldn’t be happier with the results. A big thank you to Paul Cioca for working out the logistics of design, editing and sourcing. Although there was a paper shortage we still managed to get them in on time!

The Calendars span the dates of March 2022 - March 2023 to land on the annual anniversary of the CCS. Head on over to the store and order yours today to get this piece of Canadian Carp Fishing History while supplies last!

The Monthly Photo Competition will be put on hold for 2022 as we make room for new CCS Features. Sadly there is only so much time in a day and we must postpone certain aspects to enable growth in more important areas.

NEW MEMBER PACKS FOR 2022

For 2022 we will be offering something different than the CCS T-Shirt that members received with their Pro Memberships in 2021. We are currently sourcing items and testing quality and durability before making a final decision.

2022 Pro Member packs will ship out in March 2022 and most likely include:

CCS Member Toques.
CCS Stickers.
Other CCS Swag.
Note: Items may come in two separate shipments as we strive to streamline the process and keep membership fees low.

POPULAR THREADS IN THE COMMUNITY

“What’s Under My Rod Tips.” - Always a popular topic when Galen adds to his underwater stills photo album. These are some amazing shots and really spark a lot of interesting conversation about tactics and information about the underwater environment.

“Let’s See Those Mirrors from 2021!” - Although Mirror Carp are a rarity here in Canada, it is quite amazing to see how many were actually landed by CCS Members in 2021. Some great photos and memories of these beautiful specimens are being shared.

“Top 5 Bucket List Carp Fishing Venues.” - An interesting question posted by Will, it’s been neat to see so many anglers posting up their top 5 destination lists. You would imagine they would be similar but as it turns out everyone has very differing opinions on the subject.

“What Are Everyone’s Fishing Goals for 2022?” - Another great question posed by Galen. It’s great to see the goals and expectations of each member being posted. “Catch a Mirror”, “Catch a 30lb Carp” or “Catching a Fish from a New Area”. It’s very motivating to have little goals or objectives to make things interesting. You just never know what’s going to happen on each session while carp fishing.

The community is a great place to chat and gain information from other experienced carp anglers or get your carpy fix in the off-season. If you’re not currently a member head on over to www.canadiancarpsociety.com, sign up and join the conversation!

THE CCS SSF EVENTS 2022

The SSF Pages have been updated. We will be releasing an updated overview video soon on the CCS YouTube Channel. What exactly has been updated?

This year we will be offering both “Team” and “Solo” Leaderboards for all three Spring, Summer and Fall events. We have also decided that members can participate in both the Team and Solo Leaderboards at once. You may be thinking “Won’t this make it less interesting if one angler has a great week of fishing and wins both leaderboards?”

We have some very important changes to the event rules:

Team Leaderboard - This year teams will be made up of 3 anglers. (No more and no less.) The way the Team Leaderboard will be ranked is by the top fish from EACH Team Member. You can only submit one fish to your teams total. If one member of the team blanks then the team will only be able to submit the two biggest fish, one from each other member.

We hope this change to the rules will prevent the same person from winning both leaderboards, make the event more of a team effort and make both leaderboards more engaging for those who decide to participate in both.

Solo Leaderboard - We have also made both Leaderboards a Top 3 Fish competition. With the added work of running and updating two leaderboards for each event, making it a top 3 instead of top 4 should make updating more manageable as the week progresses.

The SSF Page has already been updated for 2022, be sure to head on over and check it out, registration is now open for members!

THE CCS CHALLENGE SERIES 2022

We will also be making some important changes to the CCS Challenge this year. As we strive to make our events more appealing and fair to all who participate there are some much-needed changes to come.

In 2021 we opened the Challenge to all members and adjusted the tournament bracket as it progressed, this posed a single problem, we had to host some 1vs1vs1 brackets due to the uneven number of participants.

Live Draw - For 2022 we will be holding a live random draw to see who will get to participate. For the challenge to be an even bracket we will go with 8, 16 or 32 competitors depending on interest. We will also draw for alternates in case some participants can’t participate. Keep an eye on the community, we will post a notification when the Challenge Page is updated with the full rules.

UNOFFICIAL RECORD CARP PAGE

The Unofficial Record Page has been updated and is ready to go! Who will be the first to break the 30 lb mark in 2022?! It’s always an exciting race to see who is lucky enough to land that first big fish.

Looking back it was May 2nd, 2021 that Alisha Martin landed a 37.5 lb brute of a common to kick things off. We’ve updated some fields on the submission form to include “Rig Used”, “Bait Used”, and a “Catch Report Section”. With these additions, we hope to be able to record and look back to relive these moments and captures.
