The first big batch of March snow

arrives on Saturday.  Some weather guessers are predicting a foot or more at our altitude.  The winter storm watches are already posted and winds Saturday afternoon might pose an issue, but Sunday looks like it might ski like a dream.  Ski instructor Santi  says  Saturday's heavy wet snow will be "manky".  Baileys is not scheduled to operate on Saturday.  Sunday the travel and slope conditions will be the best bet of the weekend.  The backside is scheduled to be open Sunday (conditions permitting).

Rikert is scheduled to host the Bread Loaf Citizens Race on Saturday March 12th. Vie for the traditional loaf of bread and other prizes. Costumes or spandex (highly recommended), barbecue and fun. Pre-register now or register day-of race from 9:00-10:30 am. Prizes for top finisher in each gender in skate and classic. Prizes for best costume. Race proceeds support the Addison County Special Olympics.
Rikert is also looking for race volunteers for their March 18th thru 20th Grand Prix. Sign up on the Rikert Grand Prix website and receive a $50 Rikert Gift Certificate. Check out the conditions at Rikert here.

We look forward to seeing you on the slopes and trails soon!

Patrol Tip of the Day  Hi everyone,  Sean here with a patrol tip about hazard markers on the trails. Often you'll see banners, orange bamboo poles and bamboos with disc-o's on them. Disc-o's are the plastic circle signs which may be blank or have info such as: Thin Cover, Caution, Experts Only, Cliff, Closed. Banners often state: Slow, Caution and Trails Merge, among others. Please stop to read these messages, we only put them up out of concern for safety. A good example are the SLOW banners. You'll often see these leading up to lift corrals which are stationed to mitigate collisions.
Single or X'd bamboo poles may be used to mark a hazard that is not visible from above. While we do our best to be consistent in marking hazards such as rocks melting out or holes in the trail, conditions change throughout the day, so please be aware while skiing/riding. Another use of single bamboos is to mark the edge of the groomed and ungroomed surface, in this use bamboos appear in a line going downhill.  This is to provide a good visual guidance in flat light. Often you'll see this at the top of the Allen or down the Cameron.

Have fun and be safe

The Snow Bowl's last scheduled day of operation for this season is:
Sunday, April 3rd
Now is the time to start thinking about returning or purchasing your season lease ski or snowboard package.

We know that the skiing is not officially over and that there may be some good days left in this ski season.  If you would like to return you gear early, the Snow Bowl Ski Shop will provide you with complimentary day rentals any day you decide to ski at the Snow Bowl this season.  This ensures that you will still have every chance to enjoy the remainder of the season without having to worry about making another trip up the mountain.

We encourage everyone who is not planning to ski anymore this season to return by Sunday April 3rd as we will have a limited number of days for returns at the ski shop after the season has ended.

Additionally, if you love your equipment and would like to buy out your package you can do so by simply calling the ski shop and purchasing over the phone at 802-443-7603.
