Forward Forward

Hello CELC members,

Last week I attended the Texas Energy Summit at the Texas State Capital.  It was wonderful to meet CELC members in person and reconnect.  My highlights from the summit are that the landscape of Texas Energy is evolving quickly with energy digitalization, resiliency, and funding mechanisms such as the Infrastructure and Investment Job Act.  To stay abreast of this fast-paced world we need to collaborate to move resiliency and energy efficiency forward. On this note, I look forward to seeing you at the CELC Roundtable this month and in April.

All the best,

Shaun Auckland

Feedback Request from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)

On behalf of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), we wanted to share information about a new program being planned at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) called Communities to Clean Energy (C2C) that will leverage the expertise of its national laboratories to provide communities across the United States with tools, technical assistance, and implementation support to help them achieve their clean energy goals.  The team has incorporated that community input into the planned C2C program, and now we want to hear from you.

Please join NREL for this virtual conversation, where you will receive a sneak peek of the planned C2C program and its support mechanisms, followed by a feedback session where you will be given a unique opportunity to help shape its design. We want to know what support would be most beneficial and how we can better serve your community’s needs.

The webinar will be held on two dates and times but will include the same content:

Feedback Request: Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) updates its Commercial Rating

Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) updates its Commercial Rating in response to new building codes and City policies such as the Climate Equity Plan. Podcasts and What we are Reading
A solar facility on a 3,594-acre tract of land has environmental groups searching for a way to save what they consider a living museum.  Just off Highway 82, a historical marker denotes the significance and gives the land a name. The Smiley-Woodfin Native Prairie Grassland is the largest remaining section of tall-grass prairie in the state.

“While we were in an emergency, ERCOT allowed prices to go off the scale,” Denton City Council Member Paul Meltzer told BuzzFeed News. “We were forced to pay. We were approached Tony Soprano–like to empty our reserves.”

Bahrain, a tiny island state of less than 2 million people off the Arabian Peninsula, has long punched above its weight economically, due to its rich oil and gas reserves.  This -- and the global push to transition away from dirty fuels -- means that the kingdom is looking for ways to diversify its economy and energy mix.
