Thanks for All You Do!

Welcome to the 2022 Spring edition of Passion in Action! We hope you had a beautiful winter with family and friends. As always, thanks to you and your donations, and our fantastic staff and volunteers, we continue to serve cancer patients and their caregivers by arming them with hope, strength and compassion for their cancer journey.

Please take a minute to view our 2021 impact, along with the following updates: Volunteer Vibes, Health & Wellness Tips, Staff SpotlightThe Big Event, and Shout-Out City.

The Art of Giving

Because of you, we are able to fulfill our mission each and every day. Your gifts of time, talents and treasure provide support to our community far beyond a helping hand. You’ve helped us restore faith in humanity and mend broken spirits for hundreds of our clients.

Volunteer Vibes

We are still in need of volunteer drivers specifically from Clare and Gladwin to drive cancer patients to life-saving treatments. We’ve tried to recruit volunteers through Facebook posts, radio mentions and distributing flyers in the area. Do you have ideas or know anyone who is interested? If so, please let them know about this opportunity and how we can reach them.

Health & Wellness Tips

Gentle Yoga Sessions have a new home!

We are very excited to share a new location for Gentle Yoga: Creative 360! Renée and Aaron Deckrow, the owners of Ashman Loft, our last location, have been incredibly generous by donating their space for our group to gather, and we are forever appreciative. Moving our classes to Creative 360 allows everyone to attend regardless of mobility with access to an elevator.

Our next Gentle Yoga sessions will be on March 24, April 7, and April 21 at Creative 360 which is located at 1517 Bayliss Street in Midland. More session dates will be announced soon. We are excited to see you there!

Follow us on Facebook for yoga reminders and events.

March Book Recommendation

Cancer: Now What? Taking Action, Finding Hope and Navigating the Journey Ahead, by Kenneth C. Haugh, Ph.D.

Our own Case Manager, Eric Krzywosinski, suggests this book because it helps guide cancer patients and their loved ones by sharing the real-life experiences of cancer patients. It covers medical, emotional and spiritual challenges that one may face during treatment. There is also a section based on how relationships may be affected by a cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Cancer Services has a great library of books available for cancer patients and their caregivers. These books can be borrowed from our library anytime – just give us a call!

Shout-Out City

We'd like to give a shout-out to ALL our volunteers and donors for their dedication to Cancer Services, but today we want to share special recognition to Angela and Don Sheets.

Together, they recently made a generous $20,000 gift to Cancer Services to honor the memory of their close friend and Cancer Services volunteer, Stephanie Stephan. We are incredibly grateful for this gift and honored to share Stephanie’s memory through the Stephanie Stephan Volunteer Award. The inaugural award will be presented this December at the Cancer Services Holiday Luncheon and Style Show to a Cancer Services volunteer who exemplifies Stephanie’s remarkable commitment to helping others.
