Refugee Next Door Campaign Toolkit

Solidarity, justice for all and advancing human rights, are true core values of the labour movement. 

Labour Community Services and Toronto & York Region Labour Council launched the Refugee Next Door (RND) campaign in 2019. Since then, the RND Advisory Committee has created the Refugees in Canada: Facts and Myths video that was shared at the Canadian Labour Congress 2021 Convention. With a continued commitment to sharing this work, the RND toolkit can be easily utilized within your organizations, workplaces and communities.

Included in this toolkit:

  1. Downloadable RND Campaign Booklet 
  2. Downloadable images that can be used for social media, newsletters, reports or websites
  3. Links to the Refugees in Canada: Facts and Myths video - available in English and French
  4. Opportunity to book an RND presentation with an LCS staff member
  5. Ability to share this toolkit on social media or email

We are all Canadians. Since the First Nations gave Toronto the name “a gathering place”, this city and region have been the destination of choice for generations of immigrants and refugees who come with their skills and dreams of making a better life for themselves and their families.

Today, however, we are hearing more stories about threats to our society in the form of immigrants and refugees. As our airwaves fill will these stories aimed at painting them in a negative light, Labour Community Services believes it is important to take a look at refugees coming to Toronto today, and what their arrival means for our unions and communities. Book an RND Presentation


Book an LCS staff member to present the Refugee Next Door campaign to your organization where they will go through what the campaign is about, play the Refugee Next Door: Facts and Myths video and help direct any questions you may have to appropriate resources.
