Don't Tell Vivian, but I am sitting at her desk.
(Vivian is Pie Bar's General Manager)

I am sitting at her desk because I no longer have a desk at Pie Bar Woodstock.

Vivian does.

Tony & Madison do.
(Tony & Madison are Pie Bar Woodstock's Leadership Team)

But I don't.

You may not know this, but the decision to "make myself replaceable" has been intentional and something we have been working on for the past several years at Pie Bar.

Don't get me wrong..I am still here...I just spend more time saying phrases like, "but what do you think?" instead of "let me handle it."

Of course, navigating this part of the business (watching it grow, seeing other people treat Pie Bar like their own baby, investing in a Leadership Team) means I have spent a significant amount of time lately loitering around a variety of Chick-Fil-A's.

Let me explain.

One of the main tenets that I have learned from peeking through the hedges (literally) at my business idol (heeyyy Chick-Fil-A!!!) is that leadership development is more than just a phrase to them.

The idea of developing leaders isn't enough. The idea is great, but without forward motion, the idea stays stagnant.

We have to make proactive moves to facilitate an environment that develops good leaders.

That means Pie Bar's Leaders (like Vivian, Tony, Madison, April, Susanna, Sean, and Leya) need things like their own desks, their own responsibilities, and their own opportunities to lead.

It makes my brain fuzzy to think about it..but fuzzy in a good way, ya know? It means that Pie Bar is growing and that one day we will TAKE OVER CHICKEN-FIL-A's TITLE AS THE WORLD'S BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH..wait, what?
jkjkjkjkjk

This is not an announcement for Pie Bar Chicken Sandwiches.
(but..can you imagine?!)

I am actually bringing this up because one of our biggest days of the year is TOMORROW (Monday, March 14th) and our Leadership Team will be on full display doing what they do best: serving guests, baking pie, and being their amazing selves!

March 14th is Pi Day, which is the single most popular day for our shops with only two exceptions: Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ekkk!

Pi Day is our kick-off to Spring and gives our entire team a chance to work together on a large scale project after a couple of months of slow days.

Pi Day gives our Leaders a chance to stretch their Leadership Muscles that they have been working out in their Leadership Gym in their tiny Leadership Shorts.

It is the pie version of a stress test. Pi Day means they are being metaphorically tossed into the deep end of the pool and being told to both swim and serve/bake pie simultaneously.

I hope you will come out and support our team Tomorrow (Monday, March 14th) in honor of Pi Day and in celebration of our team, our pies, and our community.

PLUSSSSS the more folks that show up, the more practice our Leadership Team gets at being Leaders, and we all know that practice makes perfect..which must be why the Drive Thru Line at every stinkin' Chick-Fil-A is *chefs kiss* flawless.

*ducks behind a Truett Cathy statue because I've been spotted*

P.S. We are open regular business hours for Pi Day: Monday, March 14th from 11am - 7pm.
