Join us on the journey ...

<<First Name>>, I want to invite you to journey with us towards Easter. Lent is traditionally the time of year when believers prepare to celebrate Easter by fasting, praying, and serving one another, whilst being immersed in Biblical study on the life and ministry of Messiah Jesus.

Instead of giving up food for Lent, I felt the Lord encourage us to take up an effort to embrace and engage with the community we are in. The Lent journey at HCPC is therefore titled: "This year Lent is for community".

Our liturgy for this series has been adapted to our outdoor setting, and our expectation is for the Spirit of God to equip us to step into God's (co)mission (of going to all nations, sharing the gospel of good news, and teaching people how to be disciples). This series will be different to our usual gatherings at HCPC in the sense that we will be gathering around tables, and the series is aimed at encouraging deep and meaningful conversations.

What can you expect then?

  • Encouraging (and challenging) stories of how other communities of Faith have engaged with communities.
  • Bible Readings and devotions
  • Moments of personal reflection
  • Prayer
  • Meaningful conversations with fellow believers (with guiding questions from our weekly story)
  • Practical guides to take the conversations beyond the gathering
  • a Challenge to act on what the Lord stirs in our hearts.

Each week has an overreaching theme that guides our conversations. The brackets are the titles of the stories for those weeks:

  • Week 1: Imagine faith beyond the walls of our parish (Ashes-to-go)
  • Week 2: Together (a Wing and a Prayer)
  • Week 3: Waiting in hope (Acts of Kindness)
  • Week 4: a Fresh start (Encouragement cards)
  • Week 5: Great opportunities (Big and Small)
  • Week 6: The greatest gift of all (Engaging Schools)
Please bring along a drink and a snack for your morning tea. We are, after all, gathered around tables and food always facilitates new connections.

See you on Sunday then.
Werner.

Ps. We have plans for Holy Week that would mirror our Christmas Nativity scene and create an opportunity for people to engage with the Biblical Easter story. Pray with us for these to take shape.
