MESSAGE FROM NAAAP DC'S LEADERSHIP TEAM HONORING WOMEN
Happy International Women's Day! This month, we celebrate Women's History Month! We would like to recognize all of the women in our chapter who serve on our Leadership Team, committees, and as members, and applaud them for their achievements. We will be hosting a variety of different programs celebrating the successes of API women this month and invite our whole community to join us. More events will be announced in our newsletter next week.

We are also launching a fun, new networking initiative to allow you to meet and connect with a fellow NAAAP DC member during this hybrid world! Check it out below.

In honor of the achievements of women who have contributed to this country after generations of inequality, we would like to celebrate three Asian-American women entrepreneurs in our DMV community. Without the sacrifices of our pioneers who led the way to change, these women are able to share their talents and pursue their passions. Meet Mira Kim, Cherryl Anderson, & Kat Pham who have sponsored us with amazing giveaways this year.

This new program is a great away for our members to network and build a relationship with another member! In the pre-technology days, receiving mail from your pen pal was so exciting as you built a connection with someone you never met, and we hope our members can get the same experience! Deadline to sign up is Tuesday, March 15.

BLACK NOSTALGIA IN THE YEAR OF THE TIGER
THANK YOU to owner Matt Talley of Cool Kids Vinyl, who shared with us the cultural impact of Black nostalgia and discussed the parallels and relationship of Black and Asian communities to the cultural landscape of Washington, D.C. on February 28th. We enjoyed a delicious 8-course meal with drinks by Maketto and received a special surprise appearance by Chef Erik Bruner-Yang himself! Individuals from all walks of life came together to break bread and showed how amazing our D.C. community is.

We look forward to our next DEI dinner discussion and continuing to build a space for our community to learn from one another and become inspired to make change!
STATE OF THE UNION COMMUNITY WATCH PARTY
Several NAAAP DC members and friends from KAYA: Filipino Americans for Progress™, NAFFAA Capital Region, and Filipino Young Professionals (FYP) met up at Purple Patch on March 1st for some of their yummy lumpia and to watch the State of the Union. What a great way to connect with our fellow Filipino groups.
