Learning Plus
School does not work for everyone so at Learning Plus we offer an alternative.
At the moment, we provide a total of 17 one to one sessions during the week with 9 different young people.  Each session is based around the young person but uses the skills and talents of the youth workers and session leaders at Cre8.

As youth workers our aim is to provide a nurturing, engaging, and empowering environment for young people to achieve and build confidence.  We have the privilege of seeing young people grow in confidence and find a place where they can settle and feel secure.

Below is a little taste of what the young people get up to.
Music. Ollie works with the young people to create some amazing tracks in our studio or they are able to learn an instrument and work towards Rock School grades.
Art.  Keirra and Catherine use their skills to help young people create some amazing art from around the world.
Making Stuff. Jonathan uses The Shed to mainly build benches with young people.  The picture is of a bench made by Oliver who is now attending Reaseheath College because of the work he has done through Cre8.
Cooking.  Everyone tries their hand at cooking.  As we’ve been going around the countries of the world we’ve had some amazing dishes from salt and pepper chicken to jalebi desserts.  This is Thomas, who loves to cook and play music.
Club
Clubs continue to be one of the most important and core things we do at Cre8.  On Tuesdays we run a club for young people of secondary age while on Wednesdays it’s for primary age.  It’s a time when we can have fun and just do stuff together.

Our secondary club is busy getting around 15-20 young people, our primary club is full with around 20-30 young people each week.  We have a fantastic group of volunteers including local young adults who previously attended club themselves, but it would be great if we had more. If you fancy volunteering give us a call: 01625 503740.

At our clubs, we’ve been doing art and craft, playing games, making short films, making jewellery and sewing. We’ve been using food from our Project Grow to create meals for everyone including curry, corn beef hash, leek and potato soup, fruit salads for pudding and many more.

We also did a ready steady cook in our Secondary Club - this was great! All young people got to cook something and then we all sat and had food together and spoke about the Christmas holidays and how they found the night.

We have primary residential coming up in the Easter holidays which is over 2 nights.  We look forward to camping at Rob’s Farm in Wales and doing lots of fun activities.

Music

Music Project:

In January we took a break to consider the past, present, and future of the Music Project.  We see that music has played and still plays a very significant role for young people and the community.  It has allowed young people to grow in confidence, build a skill, express themselves, and be applauded by family, friends, and the community.

We started again in February. We offer hour-long sessions of music-making and snacks after school Mondays and Fridays for different age groups. We have also continued to offer one to one music tuition for young people to work towards grades in guitar, ukulele, drums, singing and piano. Here’s a little taster of what we have done this month (https://fb.watch/blNNXBZhqo/).
Jubilee Event: We hope to put on an event in June in collaboration with another local arts group to celebrate the Queen’s 70th year on the throne. Our young person committee have come up with a few promising ideas so watch this space!
Community Singing Group: We also started a new Community Singing Group (https://fb.watch/blMkUS8hEa) in Feb, with an emphasis on enjoying singing and improving mental health. We are looking for new members, young and old to expand our group (9 years old to 90) so if you’d like to come along, we meet at the Cre8 Community Building 3:30-5:30pm on Wednesdays.
