Our new #CAAW22 webpage is GO!

Image

There is no mistaking it: when it comes to Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2022, CASC are going bigger than ever before! With no #CAAW in 2021, we are fired up and ready to offer a huge range of resources and activities. Old favourites like a refreshed version of our Clinical Audit for Dummies Guide are back along with awareness raising placards. We will be running a free breakfast event on 13 June, plus several free training sessions and our #cakeoff competition. We have long service awards to honour those who have worked in clinical audit for over 10 and 20 years – so get in touch to let us know if that is you! We are looking for our Clinical Auditor of the Year and Clinical Audit Team of the Year (see below) and we are negotiating with other organisations to run some new joint events. Daily twitter polls will be launched at 8am every day and we are also working on showcasing our new online training resources during #CAAW. Get ready for those! Lots more stuff will be added to our dedicated webpage over coming months, but do please look now, via this link.

Nominate your Auditor and/or Team of the Year!

Image

Can you help? As part of unofficial Clinical Audit Awareness Week 2021 CASC organised a competition to find our Clinical Auditor of the Year. This proved a great success and we shared details of the finalists via various platforms, including Twitter. While not quite everything went according to plan last year, we are running this competition again as part of #CAAW22 and welcome nominations. We are delighted to be able to announce that we are also extending the competition to include a new category, Clinical Audit Team of the Year. To assist with the nomination process we have created two nomination forms that supply more details for each competition. Click here to nominate your Clinical Auditor of the Year. Click here to nominate your Clinical Audit Team of the Year. We are pleased to be able to announce that the winners of each competition will receive a trophy and a substantial prize. Please share this information with colleagues and get nominating. Submission deadline is 15 May 2022.

Menopause LAL set for 24 March

Image

Please join us on 24 March at 12.30 for what will be our twenty-first Learn at Lunch session. The next session will focus on Menopause Matters and will be led by Sarah Fereday (Health and Wellbeing Manager at Kettering General Hospital). This will be the first of several Learn at Lunch sessions in 2022 that will concentrate on topics designed to improve your health and wellbeing! We hope to raise awareness of the menopause via the session as this is an important subject that impacts on all of us! Sarah is an expert in her field and will look at the facts and misinformation. The session is open to all and will be highly interactive with polls, chat blasts and prizes. The meeting will be facilitated via zoom. Codes you need to know are meeting code 899 0312 9742, passcode 691861. Learn at Lunch is open to all, not just clinical audit and QI staff so please spread the word. Dates for your diary and news

Image

A plethora of important dates for your diary, so we will dive straight in! 19 May is the date for Healthcare Conferences UK’s annual Clinical Audit for Improvement Summit. As ever a fabulous line-up of local and national speakers. Click here to find out more. For those of you involved in safety, the Bristol Patient Safety Conference looks as excellent as ever and will take place virtually on 18 May. All the details you require are here. We urge you to sign up for The Big Conversation! This is a series of virtual interactive events that will be of interest to anyone working in improvement. These are free events designed to bring people with similar goals and challenges together. To register, click here. Professor Keenen is holding a webinar on 24 March (which sadly clashes with our next Learn at Lunch) to discuss HQIP’s planned celebrations for #CAAW22. Find out more here. On a final note, we were disappointed to hear that Dawn Chamberlain will be leaving NHS England. At the end of last year, she was championing all things clinical audit. We await further news on what happens next!

Apply for a CASC Training Scholarship!

Image

We are delighted to be able to announce a new CASC initiative. The Clinical Audit Training Scholarship (CATS) creates an opportunity for those new to our profession to gain access to free accredited training and mentorship in 2022. CASC recognise that staff new to clinical audit benefit from appropriate training that helps them better understand what is considered best practice in clinical audit. It is important that new auditors understand common challenges and pitfalls that those working in our field often face. If you have worked in clinical audit for less than 12 months, you can apply for a CASC scholarship that will enable you to attend the accredited Clinical Audit Masterclass (via Healthcare Conferences UK). Successful applicants will also receive mentorship from Stephen and Tracy. Take a closer look at what is on offer here. To apply for one of our initial five scholarships, download and complete the application form here. Note: scholarships are open to NHS and non-NHS professionals.
