We're launching something new for our 2022 LA2050 Grants Challenge! We're shifting the focus of public voting from organizations to issues. First, we'll ask Angelenos to vote for the issues that matter most to them, online from April 18th to May 6th, 2022. Then, we'll announce the top-voted issues and open grant applications to organizations working in those areas. Last, we'll evaluate all of the proposals and award our annual $1 million in grant funding.

Our goal? To ensure that our grantmaking aligns with what you care about most.

We'll share more about this year's LA2050 Grants Challenge process soon. But first, we're recruiting for two programs that will help us engage as much of Los Angeles County as possible when voting goes live on April 18th. Check them out below.
LA2050 LISTENS APPLICATIONS DUE TODAY
LA2050 Listens
We're looking for 10 social impact organizations to partner with us as hosts for LA2050 Listens

LA2050 Listens hosts will program one or more events from April 18th to May 6th, 2022, during which participants will discuss the future of our region and vote in the 2022 LA2050 Grants Challenge. The events must be engaging, participatory, and inclusive and can be either virtual or in-person. Beyond that, the structure of the event is up to you! The more creative, the better.

LA2050 Listens hosts will be awarded a $5,000 grant for their participation.

Applications are due today, March 10th, 2022 at 5:00 pm.

LA2050 YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
Youth Ambassador Program

We're also recruiting our first-ever cohort of LA2050 Youth Ambassadors!

LA2050 Youth Ambassadors will spread the word about voting in the 2022 LA2050 Grants Challenge to friends, family, and neighbors.

In return, Youth Ambassadors will have the opportunity to learn about careers in social impact, receive outreach training, make a real impact on local issues, and be awarded a certificate that can be added to resumes or applications.

The two participants who recruit the most voters will each win a prize package of $500 – a $250 Visa gift card and $250 to donate to a nonprofit. All who recruit more than 50 voters will be entered into a raffle for additional prizes.

LA2050 Youth Ambassador sign-ups are open now through March 25th, 2022 to all youth ages 14 to 24 located in Los Angeles County.

BILL'S "FAVE FIVE"
Bill Bedrossian

BILL BEDROSSIAN | CEO, Covenant House

My favorite Los Angeles places and spaces...
PLAY:  Right behind my house is the Los Cerritos Wetlands which is a three-mile protected marshland and it has been my saving grace during COVID to get myself and my boys out of the house, and stay active.

CREATE:  Recently, Covenant House launched an animation academy in collaboration with several studios, including Time Warner, to teach young people experiencing homelessness the skills of professional animation. I have spent a lot of time talking to young people and watching them create, which has been very fun and rewarding.

CONNECT:  I’ve been able to connect with youth and coworkers at our Covenant House sites around the state. It has been a privilege to be able to work in a space where we are required to be in person. I don’t take for granted being able to connect and interact with other people during this time has been a critical part of keeping me positive and motivated.

LEARN:  I’ve really enjoyed learning about race, equity, and justice from the community at SJPLA. I have been part of a cohort of other CEOs leading homeless agencies with SJPLA and it’s been a fantastic learning experience for me.

LIVE:  I spend a lot of my weekends at Heartwell Park in Long Beach for my boy's baseball practices and games. Being outside and connecting with other families always brings me lots of joy.
