Still Equipping from Afar ...

Our first year Equip Asia students are just one week away from completing their studies in the book of Romans. Following this, they will study Ephesians. This course is linked together with a module called Families in Ministry. After that comes the first letter from Paul to the Corinthian church, and then two subjects closely tied to the experience of the Corinthian Christians: Conflict Resolution, and Holiness & Purity. It is a joy to walk through these studies together with them. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will use these lessons to strengthen the faith of these students and prepare them for ministry.

Our second-year students are working through a series of modules we call Culture and Language Acquisition. These modules are introductory and are constructed to prepare them for things they will encounter as they move into cross cultural ministries in non-church situations.

Several of the students in the second-year class are living in an eastern state of the Russian Federation. We are unsure how these students will be impacted by measures taken against Russia resulting from the events in Ukraine. It is possible that we may lose our internet links, so we are actively planning another strategy, just in case.
Please pray with us about this situation.

Travel plans..

“Travel plans” are just that: plans! And we all know that our plans or timing are not always the Lord plans! Barrie was quite sick in February, so we weren’t able to attend important meetings with our other mission leaders from different parts of the world. That was a big disappointment — for both of us, since Cherri was planning to go to these meetings as well. Thankfully we were able to join in via Zoom, though it wasn’t like being there in person. Barrie also had plans to travel overseas to Singapore and possibly Malaysia next month, but we recently found out that there are still tight restrictions in place in those areas. Other places he’s hoping to visit as soon as possible are Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. We appreciate your prayers that the Lord will give guidance and wisdom concerning these things.

Family news…

On January 20, 2022 our new grandson, Hunter Luke Williamson, arrived! We were thrilled that the Lord opened the door for us to be able to fly to Florida to meet him and reconnect with David and his wife Kendra, as well as two other grandsons Ryder and little Grayson.  We rarely get to see them so this was a precious and joyful time.

Have to share! Big brother was startled when baby brother decided to fill his diaper! 😂

Mom had her 92nd birthday on March 1! We’re grateful that she only has to be on oxygen at night now. Sadly, she can’t get out of bed because sitting up straight in a chair causes her severe spinal pain and leg spasms.  We are so thankful that right before her birthday, some Covid restrictions were lifted so that now we (who’ve been vaccinated and boosted ) may go inside and visit Mom. But only two at one time. Please keep praying for Mom. Ever since her birthday she’s been struggling with neck pain.

Medical stuff ...

Barrie will be having endoscopic brow lift surgery on April 5.  This is to help correct his “hooded eyes”.  Several years ago he had blepharoplasty to lift his drooping eyelids but he’s once again experiencing loss of his peripheral vision. This time his whole brow needs lifting. Please pray that there won’t be any complications or issues.

About an hour or so after we arrived at David and Kendra’s house in January, Cherri tripped and fell — while holding 5 day old Hunter! We thank the Lord that she was able to keep hold of Hunter in her right arm and he wasn’t hurt. Cherri must have landed on her left hand and dislocated her thumb as well as sprained some ligaments. We were so thankful that David was able to put her thumb back in place, and that there were no broken bones. But after over six weeks, she still is unable to bend the second joint on her thumb at all, and is experiencing pain.  So far, Physical Therapy doesn’t seem to be helping. Please pray for proper healing.

I’m sure all of us are in much prayer for our hurting and needy world, especially those in the Ukraine. In these unprecedented days, let's keep in mind the words of Jesus.  “…My peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid… I am coming back to you.” (From John 14:27-28). Each new day brings us one day closer to that Glorious Day! Until then, let’s keep on spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ!

We are very grateful for your prayers for us, your financial support and your love and encouragement. You are in our prayers (so please let us know if you have specific things you’d like us to be praying about with you.)

With love,

Barrie & Cherri
