To support educators and students in understanding the war taking place in Europe, we have compiled a wide range of resources that provide helpful guides and information on teaching the invasion of Ukraine to students. The various resources have been made available through an online padlet. We thank our EuroClio Ambassador Helen Snelson for the initiative and the many contributions shared with us during our two online sessions on teaching about the conflict. Access all resources here ->
Our statement on the invasion of Ukraine is available in English and RussianOur thoughts go to our colleagues in Ukraine, who are in danger and with whom we have worked for decades to promote mutual understanding through education. We hope to see them safe soon.

Genre art, and images in general, can be a very powerful tool in the history classroom. The upcoming webinar focuses on how genre art can be used effectively by history teachers. In building on the Historiana collection “Paintings of everyday life” we will look at how genre paintings can be integrated into teaching source analysis skills to enable students to develop a better grasp of a historical period using visual aids.

We are looking for teaching practices on public history! Do you have a teaching practice to share that takes into consideration pupils’ preferences and opinions regarding the contents or forms of learning? That turns their attention to the history around them, from bottom-up activities such as historical re-enactments, social archives or book clubs, through commercial products, e.g. videogames, songs, podcasts, magazines, memes or clothes, to various faces of the politics of history, such as monuments, celebrations or public statements?
