We are planning to upgrade databases used by Canvas tools and Harvard Wiki. To minimize user impact, these upgrades will take place outside of business hours and during Spring Recess.
Below are the details of each upgrade. If you have questions, please contact academictechnology@harvard.edu.
Oracle and PostgreSQL Databases:
Upgrade between 7-9pm on Monday, March 14th.
An announcement will be posted in Canvas during the upgrade.
Feeds will be paused during the maintenance window.
Various custom plug-in tools (Account Admin Tools, Manage Course, Course Emailer, Course Info Tool, etc.) will not be available during the maintenance window.
Course Emailer emails sent during the maintenance period will be delivered after the upgrade is complete.
Users will see an error message if they attempt to use these tools during the upgrade.
Besides the custom tools mentioned above, Canvas will continue to function as normal for users.
Wiki Database:
Upgrade between 6-9am on Tuesday, March 15th.
The outage will be similar to other recent wiki maintenance events.
Users will see a maintenance message and not be able to view or edit wiki content.
We will upgrade to the most recent minor version of Confluence at the same time, which includes bug fixes.
