A LETTER FROM JOHN
Dear Faithful Supporters,
The Lord often guides us on new roads that are exciting…. yet in sections that are a bit difficult to walk on. They may begin with a smooth pavement, yet after a short distance the pavement ends; the washed-out potholes begin. We try to walk around them at first but in time they are so numerous and big we must walk right on through them, twisting a knee or ankle from time to time. It can become a stressful, painful, and tiresome path to navigate. The thing that keeps us walking the path is knowing that it is the Lord above who led us there and it is He who is walking it with us. We know that at the end of the path there is something good.
MTW Honduras is on one of these paths. He has led us on a path that has us in a funnel of focus. It has brought us to realization we need to focus solely on church planting and developing the Presbyterian denomination here country wide. The foundation of the church is essential and should be solid for the building blocks of ministries growing out of the church. The hard part, the potholes, of this path requires us to step away from the ministries here in La Ceiba and concentrate on growing the church in and out of the capital city of Tegucigalpa.
The journey to get to this point has been a struggle. Recent events have made it clear this is the place our path is taking us to and through. This transition will not happen quickly, yet we are going to continue forward at God’s pace. We are trying to work out the details in how we, MTW, can step away from the current ministries here and how best to leave them, if the Lord wills it, in the hands of capable Hondurans. By the end of this year, I foresee the MTW Team La Ceiba presence gone (The Lord has a path for each of the current La Ceiba Team. Kathy and I will be moving to Tegucigalpa after things are settled to a point here in La Ceiba for us to do so.), hopefully for a short time until the Lord leads the newly established national Presbyterian Church to plant a church here in La Ceiba. Only He knows when that will be.
Our path forward is to grow the Presbyterian Church nationally at the pace of His choosing and leading. I realize this may leave a lot of questions in your mind. I assure you that over the next months, as things become clearer and details are worked out, we will provide updates of the progress and change.
Thank each one of you for your involvement in our calling to Honduras. Please continue to pray for the Lord to give us wisdom, discernment, grace, and love as we seek to follow Him and His choice to use us as tools to expand His kingdom and grow His church. A Kingdom of a gospel full of grace and love.
In His Grace Alone,
John
