Lama Losang's teacher, Venerable Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche, passed away on March 6, 2022. Below please find message from Lama Losang regarding his passing.

Dear Sangha,
I have very sad news to share with you. As many of you may already know, our dearest teacher, Venerable Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche lag, passed away on March 6. Rinpoche was born in eastern Tibet in 1935. At the age of 9, he became a monk. Then he went to central Tibet and entered the Drepung Monastery. In 1959, due to the Chinese occupation of Tibet, Rinpoche fled for India. He received the Geshe Lharam Degree in India. In 1977, Rinpoche became one of the teachers of philosophy and debate for the Namgyal Monastery. He taught so many monks and nuns in Dharamsala, India. And eventually, Rinpoche became the Abbot of the Namgyal Monastery in 1987.

I requested Rinpoche to be the resident teacher for the Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Middletown, CT in 2001. And since then, the Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist centers of Philadelphia, El Paso TX, and Middletown CT, have received numerous precious teachings from our dear Rinpoche. My last visit with him was on March 2nd and I had a chance to do the Guru Yoga practice with him. I have been his student since 1977 and I am so fortunate for that. I miss him already and I pray for him to come back and to teach us. Rinpoche was such a remarkable Buddhist monk.

There will be a prayer service on Monday, March 14 at 10am-2pm ET at the Doolittle Funeral Home : 14 Old Church St. Middletown, CT.  There will be a live stream of the service via Facebook on the Doolittle Funeral Home page. For more information about the service in Middletown, CT, please contact: secretary@chenrezigcenter.com

Palden Lhamo Practice
Led by Lama Losang Samten
Saturday March 12
4 p.m. Mountain Time / 6 p.m. Eastern Time
via Zoom
Venerable Losang Samten will lead this practice with his usual simple and very practical style.

"There are so many Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who are constantly willing to help all living beings overcome suffering, and the reason they reached enlightenment is their willingness to help other sentient beings. They are willing to protect day and night, twentyfour hours a day. The most important and powerful protector deity in Buddhist history is the female protector deity, Palden Lhamo.
Nevertheless, even though these enlightened beings, including Palden Lhamo, are always willing to help, it is necessary for us to cultivate this potential within ourselves. We need to be open to receive the blessings of these deities" - Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia

Hosted by Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center in El Paso, TX

Sunday Sangha
Led by Sue Passante
Sunday March 13
10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time
via Zoom
Equanimity, The Foundation of Bodhicitta
Equanimity is one of The Four Immeasurable Thoughts--a divine virtue that generates deep awareness of equality toward all beings.  Equanimity is the foundation upon which the mind of enlightenment, bodhicitta, is able to develop within us.  Lama Yeshe says, "We cannot create beautiful bodhicitta within our mind until the distortions of seeing others in distinctions of friend, enemy or stranger are eliminated."
Sue Passante will be our host this Sunday while Lama Losang is visiting our sister sangha in El Paso, TX.  Please join Sue in a discussion and guided meditation on the challenges we sometimes face in our quest to perfect our equanimity.

Sunday March 13
12 p.m. Mountain Time / 2 p.m. Eastern Time
via Zoom
Please join us for these teachings with Venerable Losang Samten on this core topic in the Buddhist tradition.
"If we appreciate the opportunities that we have now with this precious human life and if we recognize and acknowledge the fact that this life is not going to last and that we are going to die sometime, if we recognize that our behavior is going to shape our experience in this life and also after we die in future lives, and if we realize that no matter what we experience in the future, because it will arise from behaving from confusion, we will have a lot of difficulties and troubles, then we will turn our minds to the Dharma." - Dr. Alexander Berzin
