THIS WEEK'S TOP STORIES

Filipino Club performing on Friday in Gym I (Mara Mellits for The Champion)

After the event got midway through due to the pandemic in 2020 and was forced online last year, International-Days (I-Days) returned last week at Lane Tech. Students were able to perform and watch their classmates dance, representing a plethora of cultures from around the world. This year, the main performances took place in the auditorium, while in Gym I, dancers performed for each other, a change from years past. Editor-in-Chief Mara Mellits has a full photo gallery from the event.

While some students got to see the international performances during the day on Thursday and Friday, any member of the Lane community was able to watch International-Nights (I-Nights), during three sold-out performances on Friday and Saturday. Reporter Ruby Thompson has a photo gallery from Friday night’s performance in the auditorium.

Among Lane’s student body, you can find budding musicians, rappers and MCs. At Lane’s Open Mics, some of them have a chance to show off their skills. They are held monthly and give performance time to anyone who wants to practice or just have fun in front of an audience. Reporter Ruby Thompson takes a look at Lane’s Open Mics, including the March performance.
