Weekly Encouragement

Combating Hopelessness

Feelings of being overwhelmed, fear, distrust, and anxiety are common in any area of life that we care about. Our love for people and ourselves can cause us to see through a lens of what’s missing, what could be missing, and what has happened wrong. This lens can become oppressive and even painful to live with. Our vantage points concerning our lack and historical pain can create strongholds or hopelessness.
Because we have attached so much loss to ourselves or some other arena, we can’t believe that there is a better outcome on the horizon. We lose hope and choose to believe in the worst possible outcomes.

Consistent hopelessness can lead to demonic strongholds of oppression in our lives, and we must learn how to battle in this realm of spiritual warfare now more than ever. There is a pandemic of fear and hopelessness for so many people in so many areas. Name the arena of life and you can spot the hopelessness.  Name the divisions and you can see where the enemy has a stronghold in the thought processes, and the way people interact and respond to his oppression.

The Body of Christ is called to bring hope and use hope as a weapon to defeat the enemy. Hopelessness means that we are believing a lie. This is terribly difficult, for most of us deception is deceiving. The power of a lie is that it is believed to be true and creates a false reality. We must choose to believe God and His word over any deception or stronghold of the enemy.

We serve the truth whose name is Jesus, and He is the God of hope!  We must begin to win the battle of hopelessness thoughtfully and prayerfully through an intentional effort to find the truth and believing Him. Finding hope is choosing to believe God, His goodness, and that He is faithful.

Prayer Needs and Updates:

  • Pray for our mission organizations, their families, and their provision.  Celebrate Recovery Nicaragua, Freedom House, Helping Hands Healing Hearts, Idahope Families.
  • Pray for those called to serve in this season with Youth and Kids Ministries.  We are praying for those that have a burden for the youth and a willingness to serve them.
  • Pray for those called to Leadership at HVWC.  We believe that God is raising up mighty men and women of God who will lead others in their pursuit of God.  We know that God is expanding our influence, and those who desire to play a part in the body through leadership should know they are called to it in this season.
