BOB'S MESSAGE

What Really Matters
by Bob Doman

There probably are not many folks today who are not aware of what is happening in the Ukraine. We can empathize with the people directly involved in the conflict and the impact it is having on their lives and futures. But, to some degree, we are also thinking about how it may impact our lives and futures as well.

One thing that generally comes out of conflicts such as we are seeing today, is that it tends to turn our focus away from what is relatively insignificant in our lives, back to what is most significant—our families and our children.

If you have lost focus, or misplaced your priorities, pay attention to the realities of the world and refocus.

What really matters?
Our families, our children, and the families and children of others.

Educational Options 2022
Your Child’s Educational Future: Questions Every Parent Should Ask Themselves
by Bob Doman

Whether you have a gifted or typical child, a child with learning or attention issues or special needs, parents need to understand what their role is, and the role, if any, of schools.

More and more parents are realizing that the one size fits all education—just plug them in and let the chips fall where they may—just may not be doing the job for their children. Some parents are ready to explore the options and are looking for a long-term plan, while others want to help their children catch up or give them a boost so they can return them to school, but at the top of the heap.

This may be the time for a change.

SPOTLIGHT

UPDATE: Arianna
You Can Say It Loud & Clear

“I think people need to see us for how we are, not for how we look. I'm tired of hiding in the shadows. I want to be in a place where my voice can be heard and being here, people can see my face.” - Arianna

Arianna started at NACD, when she was 11-month-old. Today she is a 23-year-old young lady enjoying life and all the opportunities that come along. Last year she graduated from a 4-year trade school in administration and customer services. As part of her studies, she did a 5-month internship as a receptionist in a psychology’s office. She was at the front desk attending the clients and answering the phone. At first it was a challenge, after 2 months working there, she felt it was too easy and asked her boss to have more responsibilities. At present she is doing another one-year study on administration and customer service, as part of the program next month, she will do an internship in a hospital doing customer service. There are chances that if she does well during the internship, she will be hired for a summer job. She also recently starred in a TV commercial!
