The truth is that for many of the pets that arrive at the GTHS, we simply don’t know their story. We believe in the goodness of people but understand that life is hard, and that when people suffer, pets suffer too.

When Diesel arrived at the GTHS, he was emaciated, a ligament in his leg was torn and his tail had been degloved. He needed a comprehensive medical treatment plan and several surgeries to repair his body. The GTHS Animal Hospital is funded by donors like you that ensure we have the medications, equipment and trained professionals needed to offer hope to dogs like Diesel.

Despite his suffering, Diesel is the definition of a gentle giant. His sole purpose in life is to bond with humans; to snuggle, to seek warmth, to reassure people with his presence. In fact, Diesel’s foster family marveled at Diesel’s eagerness to follow the tiny humans in their household from room to room for companionship. Somewhere in Diesel’s story he developed the capacity for great love.
Hundreds of homeless pets arrive at the GTHS annually. We are thankful for three of our veterinary partners Blue Mountain Veterinary Services, Grey Bruce Pet Hospital and Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic, who have stepped forward to champion Diesel’s story and match incoming donations (up to $1,500) to support the work of the GTHS Animal Hospital and the homeless pets that arrive in need.
