Straw Marquetry … and other exciting new workshops

We are delighted that Anne Dyer MBE (Founder of Westhope College) is running a straw marquetry taster workshop at Westhope College on Tuesday, 17th May.  Anne is a specialist in straw marquetry and one of the few remaining known craftspeople in the UK to practise this traditional heritage craft. This beautiful panel was one of Anne’s many lockdown projects.

Full details of this workshop, ”A Gleam of Straw” are now available on our website here  The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of straw marquetry who would like to refresh their skills.  Places are limited and early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

Straw Working has been designated an Endangered Craft by Heritage Crafts Association (HCA) and is included on its Red List.  To read more about HCA and the important work that it is doing to safeguard craft skills and knowledge, visit its website here.
We are delighted that so many of you are keen to sign up to our workshops.  Many of them are filling quickly and some already have limited availability.  We are adding more to our programme as quickly as we can. These may be browsed here.

If you would like to book a place or make an enquiry about any of these workshops, please call us on 01584 861293 (9am to 4.30pm).  We are open on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend for bookings and enquiries.

We look forward to seeing you again.
