IT'S "DOGS ON THE PATIO" SEASON

Let's get ready (and in compliance) for patio season by getting your health department permits ready.

Permits are required if you allow pups to be on your food establishment premises.  Some of the general requirements to obtain a permit are:
  • Complete and sign application
  • Filling out a HAACP plan (the health department has made it super easy...just fill in the blanks!)
  • Pay permit fee of $330 for first year, $130 in subsequent years
  • Must be outdoor area only
  • Entrance directly to the patio area; no indoor access for dog!
  • Post required signage (don't worry, it's not "this is a restaurant, not a bar" signage)
  • Doors to interior of restaurant must be self-closing (because we all know what happens when dogs smell the kitchen aromas).
  • Cleanup of dog hair, debris, etc done every six hours or in between shifts
  • Employees can not pet, kiss, shake hands with dog at any time not matter how cute
  • Dogs must be on leash at all times
  • No sneaking treats to dogs, not matter what a good boy they are
Modeling jobs for dog shown above may be made by contacting Michele@slara.org
