Lismore Floods
Lismore, on the north coast of NSW has suffered a devastating flood in the last week or so, and with the Catholic Schools office and 6 schools being severely impacted, our colleagues in the Diocese of Lismore are doing their best to support staff and students.

At least two companies from the CEnet community, Datacom and Google have stepped forward with offers of assistance and we thank them for their generosity.

International Women's Day
International Women's Day is Tuesday 8th March 2022.
CEnet is celebrating with a number of events, over the next few weeks, with the first being a presentation for staff by Stephannie Jonovska, Manager Finance Transformation at BlueScope.
In addition Stephanie holds several directorships in the Not for Profit sector and is currently on the Board of Peoplecare Health Insurance, and Chairs the CPA Australia Digital Transformation Centre of Excellence.

Over the last few months Rebekah Griffin, CEnet’s Projects & Change Leader has been encouraging staff to join her (virtually) in CrossFit activities. Rebekah is currently participating in the 2022 CrossFit Open, which runs for three weeks from 22 February. In addition, Rebekah will be competing for the first time in the NSW Weightlifting Association Ralph Cashman Open Competition at Sydney Olympic Park on 18 and 19 March.

To celebrate International Women's Day this week's selections are biographies of women.
The CEnet Member Dioceses ACEN eBook Consortium, with the assistance of Lisa Nash and Saba Maniar from the Digital Learning and Library Services Team in Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta, provide the book of the week feature for students and staff who have access to the SORA eBook Library.

CeSIS and CeFMS Update
The CEnet Member Dioceses CeSIS and CeFMS rollout is continuing with an additional 4 schools moving to Ancetry in the last two weeks, bringing the total to 431 schools in Ancestry and 596 portals now in use.
Eleven of the participating Member Dioceses have completed the CeSIS rollout and five dioceses have also completed the CeFMS portion of their rollout.

This shared services rollout is significant in its scale and success, and is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the CEnet member community.

New Reading Support Tools from Microsoft
Microsoft have just released a new tool to support reading the classroom with updates to the Reading Progress tool. Reading Coach complements the current portfolio of tools supporting students in developing critical literacy skills, including Reading Progress, Education Insights, Immersive Reader, and more.
Once a student uploads a Reading Progress assignment, Reading Coach automatically identifies words that the student struggled with and creates additional opportunities for practice. The new feature provides guidance on the correct pronunciation and syllabification, shares visuals to help vocabulary recall, and positively reinforces students to help build their confidence as readers.
