From the Head of School

Dear Gardner community,

Every year, our students love to walk around campus and share the signs of Spring that they see. Changing seasons are always a reason to observe, discuss, and learn about our dynamic Earth- and these signs showcase the continual transitions we go through. My favorite sign of Spring on campus is the daffodils that open, and this morning I noticed the first blooms! With Spring on the horizon, I can sense the community looking forward and feeling hopeful. Warmer weather, longer days, less rain and more sunshine - moods improve and it's easier to have a happy outlook.

I'm thrilled to announce that last week I submitted our Candidacy application to the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS). The Gardner School's been working to do this since the early 2000's, and I am proud to be the Head of School to move us one step closer towards full accreditation. This highlights an incredible amount of time, commitment, self-reflection and growth for our school, and it wouldn't have been possible without our dedicated team of teachers, administrators, and Board of Trustees that have worked together to put the pieces in place. Over the next few years, our school is set up to conduct a self study and then become an accredited member of NWAIS. I'm truly inspired to lead the work ahead of us, and look forward to partnering with you to accomplish this monumental step for the Gardner School community.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on campus more often, especially at the exciting upcoming events! Please take some extra time to mark your calendars with the details below about the Bluum Coffee Cart, Celebrations of Learning, and our Gardner Gala.

Warmly,

Learning in Action

Klickitat Performers
The experience of integrated learning at the Gardner School creates memories for our students that will last a lifetime. Our Klickitat students spent the day Saturday filming a play they wrote together for their Ancient Greece thematic. From brainstorming to writing to practicing lines to videoing to editing- they are learning a wide range of skills and deepening their understanding in many ways. As importantly, they are connecting with each other, overcoming stage fright, and finding joy in learning!

Campus snapshots

Thematic studies are in full swing around campus, and students are preparing projects to share with families at their Celebrations of Learning!
