Message from the Division Director

Dear Colleagues,

After a hiatus during the last COVID wave, our continuing education series, GIM Citywide Rounds, will resume on March 25 with an update on heart failure management. We are also launching a visiting professor series in conjunction with the Society of Hospital Medicine and with Dr. Christine Soong as our local lead. Dr. Brian Wolfe from the University of Colorado will join us as a virtual visiting professor on May 27th, and his lecture, "Building a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Hospital Medicine Program", will likely be of interest to sites that are seeking to create and support resident-independent units. We will be organizing small-group and individual virtual meetings with Dr. Wolfe on May 27th; please email tina.teng@uhn.ca if you would like to participate in one of these.

Sincerely,
Moira

Dr. Moira Kapral
Director, Division of General Internal Medicine, University of Toronto

Perioperative Atrial Fibrillation Survey

You are invited to participate in a survey related to perioperative atrial fibrillation (AF). Perioperative AF is the most common arrhythmia encountered after noncardiac surgery and is frequently associated with adverse patient outcomes. Both rate and rhythm control strategies are commonly used to treat uncontrolled AF after surgery, and the optimal management strategy for uncontrolled AF is unclear.

This survey is intended to capture physician attitudes towards the management of uncontrolled AF after noncardiac surgery and establish the feasibility for a randomized controlled trial addressing this important clinical problem.

The study takes an average of 5-10 minutes for completion. No identifying information will be collected as part of the study. To proceed with the survey, please click HERE
