FOUNDATION

"The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each new day to have a new and
different sun."

- Jon Krakauer

Introducing
our new Development &
Communications Associate:

Sydney Evans

My name is Sydney, and I am thrilled to be joining the efforts of the Skagit Community Foundation! I was born and raised in Rochester, New Hampshire but have recently established my home in Mount Vernon following my graduation from Western Washington University. During my time at WWU I was the goalie for the women's lacrosse team, an intern for the athletic department, and I graduated with a communications and marketing degree.

I have previously worked for organizations like the Bellingham Bells, Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County, and your local Nike store in Burlington, Washington. I'm now looking forward to contributing my skillset to the Skagit Community Foundation. I am passionate about working with people and working within nonprofit organizations that have a direct impact on our community. I've seen first-hand the value that nonprofit work has on our community members and think it is a necessity. Outside of my job I enjoy working on art-related projects (lately it's been a lot of embroidery), facetiming my family on the East Coast, reading books, and playing basketball with friends at the YMCA!

I am very excited to start my work with the foundation and look forward to meeting some of you along the way!

Message from Maddy, Executive Director:
We had a high number of strong candidates for the Development & Communications Associate position, and the selection process was challenging. Sydney stood out to us for her work ethic, marketing and communications background, experience in nonprofits, on top of a compassionate heart and eagerness to serve the community.
Her positivity is radiant, and I'm looking forward to the opportunities we will be creating together!
