SHORT STORY CONTEST
The theme for our short story contest is MYSTERY. Participants must be ages 12-18 to enter and a resident of Madison Library District.
Only ONE short story per person and 3500 word maximum.
No photos or illustrations. Work must be original (not previously published) and titled.
Submissions that are deemed inappropriate, culturally inaccurate, or possess negative stereotypical characterization will be disqualified.
To enter, email your original work to gina.m@madisonlib.org. Subject line must say March Mystery. Please include your name, age, and phone number in the email. Paste or type your story into the email body; attachments will not be opened.
You may also turn in a hard copy to the Front Circulation Desk.
All entries must be received by Tuesday, March 31st. Winners will be announced on Thursday, April 7, via Facebook, Instagram, and email.
Every participant gets an extra entry into our Books for Balloons reading challenge.
First prize: FIVE entries into the Books for Balloons drawing.
Second prize: FOUR entries into the Books for Balloons drawing.
Third prize: THREE entries into the Books for Balloons drawing.
All three winners will receive publication at www.madisonlib.org and an award certificate.

BOOKS FOR BALLOONS
To celebrate Madison Library District's 100TH BIRTHDAY, let's fill our library with BALLOONS! Read to earn balloons and enter you name into a raffle drawing.
OLDER KIDS: Read 1,000 pages (10 groups of 100)
Forms are available at our Reference Desks. Turn is as many forms as you can fill!
Program goes from JANUARY 10TH to NOVEMBER 30TH. Drawing of prizes will be held December 9, 2022.

IDAHO TEEN READING CHALLENGE
8 Books · 7 months · 1 state. Teens are challenged to read 8 books in these categories:
- Graphic novel
- Friend recommendation
- #ownvoices book
- Free choice (pick any book you want)
- Book that keeps you up at night
- Classic
- Memoir/biography
- a Re-Read
The challenge will run from October to April. Once completed, head to the link below to fill out the form to enter in a drawing; there will be 3 $100 gift cards up for grabs.
ALL type of books qualify: audiobooks, eBooks, graphic novels, instructional manuals, etc.
